A mentally disabled man has been missing since Tuesday afternoon, and authorities are seeking the public's help in finding him.
Jose Maciel Guzman, 57, was last seen near a care home at 4890 Gobert Ave. NE, close to the street's intersection with May St. NE in east Keizer. The last time anyone saw him was at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. He was reported missing later that day.
Guzman, who stands about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with brown eyes, grey hair, a beard and mustache, speaks Spanish. He was last seen wearing blue sweats with a bluish-grey T-shirt, white tennis shoes with a blue stripe and was carrying a green jacket. Police said there would likely be slight differences between the photo and his current appearance, as his hair is reportedly shorter and his beard and mustache are neatly trimmed.
According to a police statement, location efforts have included a neighborhood canvass, checking the nearby area and attempting to contact known family members in the area. The matter is of particular concern to authorities due to the heat and because Guzman is reportedly unable to care for himself and could be in need of several medications. He also does not have a history of disappearing, police said.
Anyone with information on Guzman's whereabouts is asked to call Keizer Police at 503-390-2000, 24 hours a day. Other information on the case can be reported to Det. Rodney Bamford at 503-390-3713, ext. 3457 during business hours.
