From staff reports
UPDATED July 10, 2008 2:54 p.m.
Gwinnett County Police have issued a Mattie’s Call for a 65-year-old woman with undiagnosed dementia and memory loss who reportedly was in the Gainesville area around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Renee Antoinette Harris left Emory Eastside Medical Center around 10 a.m. Wednesday to return to her Norcross home after visiting her husband. Her husband, James Harris, who had surgery this week at the hospital, alerted Gwinnett County authorities after his wife called him later that evening and again this morning reporting she was lost.
Renee Harris was last seen wearing a white blouse with a red full skirt and jeweled flip-flops. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. She has scarring on her left forearm. She is driving a 2002 dark blue Honda Accord.
James Harris told authorities that his wife called him around 10 p.m., saying that she was on Jesse Jewell Parkway in Gainesville. James Harris gave his wife directions to get to Interstate 85. He told authorities his wife called him again, around 9 this morning, telling her husband that she was still lost and had stayed in a Hampton Inn overnight.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that there is no record that she has stayed at any Hampton Inn in the areas that she may have traveled. Police are still following any leads that may indicate Renee Harris’ whereabouts.
Authorities say Renee Harris’ cell phone is dead and her husband has been unable to get in touch with her.
James Harris told authorities that his wife has undiagnosed dementia and memory loss. Anyone who has seen Mrs. Harris or has knowledge of her whereabouts is urged to contact Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5210.
