Was a busy boy again... I'm sorry about any inconvenience... I was at my real job and did not have my logins for my server:groan:or I could have had it fixed in a matter of a few minutes. I save all my logins in notepad so I can access them and won't forget them.. I have taken care of the problem of not having them with me.. I emailed all of the login info to my work email.. so if this happens again I can get right on it.

At least this time we had it secure enough where they were not able to send out any emails.

I refuse to let them close us down... if need be we will switch from vBulletin to another type of board.

I sent you an email, to the admin addy, basically the way this was hacked, all you had to do was replace the index.php. A good thing for you to do is have a placemat htm or html that looks like your homepage, that way if they hack your index.php, all you have to do is rename it to something else and then your index.htm file will be displayed instead of the hackers page.

Since you are running the latest version and still got hacked, you will have to look at your .htaccess and tighten that up.

PS vBulletin is suppose to be a great board,

I always use to use SMF, and found their software to be top of the line, never once got hacked with a SMF board but I did patch and take care of globals and .htaccess

yep i knew we got hacked again. i was on here at the time. i went to ebay & came back here,i was still logged in & saw the arab page. i believe i logged in sortly before it got hacked or right after it got hacked. i went to the tru board to see if anyone was talking about it & sure enough there was a poster who was saying this site got hacked. the post they posted was at about 7:30pm & it was already 8:30pm when i read their post. i was logged in here & logged in around 7:15pm.
well anyway i just changed my password just in case.

To my knowledge, Rockford, none of us have ever gotten a virus or anything from these hackings. It's always a good idea to run all your virus scans afterwards, though, just to be safe.

Hi Rockford, I ran a scan as well, no problem, I was logged in when I hit refresh the red page with arabic or whatever was up. Skeered me too.
I ran over to TTV and CL so my browser window was really loaded, I cleared that today and all seems fine. Maybe this hacker would like his own thread, too bad it's not on a current Trial Page, we could be the jury. Ha Ha, Guilty!

Pendrives are so handy, yeah I read you emailed yourself your passwords. Make sure your globals are turned off, it makes running scripts much harder.

I just got off the line with Dell. I did have a corrupt file that was causing me problems.

I explained to dell what happened and they attributed that hacker to my problem. All fixed.

Just a note to say, "Thank you", for having the best message board on the net! You care enough to constantly keep up to date, as new vBulletin versions come out, and you monitor the board like nobody else.

If you ever want something translated online, go to google.com and click on language tools on the right and you can choose from a drop down list of languages to translate to English. :happy0207:I prefer not to even click on the page to select the text - it's really easy to make the entire page a clickable zone, and once you click, he can make several more things happen on your browser - take you to a new page, popup a window, etc. The default security settings won't allow that until you click, but once you do, they assume you were clicking on a link and intended to open the popups, or navigate, etc.

Just something to watch out for. Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+C to copy, then drop it in notepad or wordpad (not Word), is a pretty safe bet.

But I can't understand why they would have an arabic website with an arabic forum, with instructions on how to hack into a forum and redirect.. All in arabic.

I used a translator, wrapped myself in Saran wrap, and went in there digging.

I have a really good virus protector, and nothing has ever happened to my puter yet....I am one of those dummys that click on every damn thing...My daughter does this to me a lot....:groan:

Nobody needs to worry... there is no virus with the hacker... he is only attacking the index page and nothing else. He isn't getting past that point, he is not getting to any poster information. The only way anyone could get a virus is if there was a link attached to the message he leaves and you click on it.. so if you see a strange message on the boards front page that does not show the normal forums and it has a link on it.... don't click it.

The only thing he is doing is causing me some extra work and a bit of aggravation.
