Is anyone else hooked on this show? I got hooked on it and don't know how that happened. I can't swim, hate the cold, scared of the sea, not fond of boats. I'd rather sit thru a double header at Dodger Stadium than to ever go fishing again and I'm allergic to shell fish. Defying explanation I just love this show. Especially Capt. Phil Harris skipper of Cornelia Marie .

These men are so rugged and tough. They work long hours, leave their families and risk their lives. Capt. Harris seems needy and lovable. I just want to mother him. He just survived a blood clot in his lung. I was so scared he was gonna die. Some of those crab pots weigh up to 700 lbs. They must eat nails for breakfast. It's like watching Alfred Hitchcock edge of my seat only real life. It's so scary. I'm so fascinated.

July 14th freezing weather and severe icing claim it’s first victim on the C

I can't wait! Only 3 more days 'til the next exciting episode.

I like that show too. The guy who narrates it is the guy who hosts Dirty Jobs. You probably know that. But I think he declined being on that show b/c it's too dangerous.

I'm totally hooked! I do eat seafood but can't eat much crab because it's too rich for my system.

I'm SO glad you said Phil was your favorite because he's my favorite too! I think Sig is overrated and kind of a butt.

I've been so worried about Phil that I can hardly stand it. He's just a stand up guy and even when his sons make him crazy, he's all heart. I LOVE Phil. :kissyface4:

I absolutely LOVE this show. My son and I have been watching it for a long time. If you've only just discovered it, I sure can feel your excitement.

If you like Deadliest Catch, check out Black Gold. I believe that's on Wed. nights on TruTV. Very similar format only different occupation. Oh and also Ice Road Truckers. We love that one too! :zm10:

It is but I never thought about it until you mention it now. He's a good narrator. I don't blame him for not wanting to go with them. Yikes.

Ah, your banner made me laugh! LOL It's good to see I'm not alone. Isn't it funny that women like this show. I think hubby's kind of interested in it too. We watch it together and he likes it I can tell.

Sig is my least favorite too. I was going to say he's so grumpy. You know what though, that's probably not a bad thing out on the sea like that. Might save some lives for him to stick to strict policys. Also his superstitions. I think there is something to that too.

I saw part of Black Gold last week by accident. I think it's kind of neato for them to show the public what these jobs are like. Especially with the price of oil. A lot of people don't realize how much time money and effort goes into lifting costs when they pull up to the pump. The size of the tools they use is pretty spectacular.

I've been watching Deadliest Catch for awhile just kind of mindlessly I thought. Just recently realized how hooked on it I am. Ice road truckers is okay but I don't find it as interesting as the others. Deadliest Catch has been on for quite awhile. I've watched it off and on. Don't know why I didn't get hooked on it until recently. I used to think; "not *that* again" but it would keep me mezmerized nonetheless. lol

I really only started watching Deadliest Catch this season but I really like it.

I like Phil. Jonathan and Andy too. Sig not so much. What's the other captains name? The one that fights with his brother? Don't care for him to much either.

I like Ice Road Truckers too.

I watch to much tv. :groan:

Another fan here. :0012:

I do like Sig though. I think it was a few comments he made like..."Give the older evil brother boxing gloves" and "fishermans honor".... he just seems to have a little of the devil in him. I really like Edgar Hanson and his eating habits though. :67302:

Oh my gosh he's a lunatic. I don't think that's such a good idea on a boat. I'd be scared. lol

I saw a clip of an upcoming show and it looks like he throws a real whing-ding.

Yes I believe it is. It must be bad habits carried over from childhood. Scary out on the water though. Keep the quickcrete away from that boy. lol

I have an announcement. Tougher in Alaska is a show my husband just told me about. On the history channel at 10:00p.m Sunday nites.

8:00p.m. Ice Road Truckers (rerun) is on right now. Next up the weekly show. Then Tougher in Alaska comes on.

I've seen small parts of Tougher in Alaska but never watched the whole thing but I will tonite.

Black Gold is good too. It's amazing how deep they can drill.

O I love these blue collar job reality shows.

ETA: Ax Men is another one. O Lord if I had to work that hard I'd starve to death.

On the rerun of Ice Road Truckers there's a young guy who broke 3 trucks and he's complaining one of his former employers is bad-mouthing him on the radios. What a whiner. LOL

That's his brother, right? What are his eating habits? I can't find it on the web site. I don't see how anybody eats anything on a boat. Talk about the hard luck diet!

I got hooked on Deadliest Catch a few years ago, but haven't watched it this year. Devoted too much time worrying about those guys out in the the cold, ice, and heavy crab pots.

I also hate the cold, get seasick in a boat, hate all seafood......maybe that was my attraction to it....everything I couldn't or wouldn't do myself. I can live vicariously through them. And my couch is a whole lot more comfortable!

Yes, Edgar is the second oldest brother of the three...the third could be a cousin :g:...he is the one who for luck bites the head off a cod or eats other yucky bits and poeces of fishes and gets a greenhorn or two even greener by daring them to eat yucky bits and pieces too. He is officially the deck boss on the NORTHWESTERN.

Oh my gosh I saw him doing that one time. Mind over matter I suppose. I guess he figures he's gotta dazzle the greenhorns with something outlandish.

Tonite's show should be good.

Yeah, I watched it. He meant that he still wasn't in the clear. He has to be checked regularly in case he has more clots as they could kill him. He's really lucky that the one that did pass didn't kill him.

The captains end up sitting too much for too long at a time. That's how those clots form.

He had a pulmonary embolism and I've heard he's still taking meds to break up any remaining clots. You can read some stuff over at Discovery, but there seems to be some confusion on the details at the forums over there.
