Never heard that Jack was leaving but did see a headline "If Jack Did It, he may not return" or some such thing. He won't go anywhere, he s to intrigate part of the show.

Most of you may know this, Nikki has moved out of her dressing room to make way for Victoria to come back. Nikki has the biggest dressing room on the set, this makes room for Vickie to bring the baby to work with her, she should be waking up soon. Her and JT's son was born in Nov. Both Mom and baby did great.

This makes me think they could use their own child on the screen, how neat would that be.

I love having fun with the grandkids and now even have a little great grandkid. I like being financially secure and being able to travel or whatever. For the Y&R people - do you think Victor & what's her name? Sabrina? Victoria's friend... Do you think they are going to hook up? I'd love to see that happen! Then Nikki will dump David and want Victor back, but he'll be with whatever-her-name-is. That would make for some good drama!

Looks like Victor is taking a trip to LA and from what I hear, he and Sabrina will end up between the sheets. This could get very complicated, very fast!

As far as the Rick/Taylor pairing on B&B, I don't like it at all. Not only is he young enough to be her son, but he IS the son of her arch enemy Brooke. I think Taylor is just messing with Rick to get at Brooke. Also, the writers are making Rick into someone that is sort of scary IMO. No means no, and Taylor has told him no. Of course her actions aren't saying no at all. What a mess.

Tom Selleck played the love interest of one of the Brooks sisters. That's how far back that one goes... Think he was dating the one named Leslie.. but the hoochie one got her hooks into him.. think her name was Lori..

That's back when Jill was a beautician and sleeping with Katherine Chancellor's husband Phillip. Those were some good shows.. I love Mrs. C. she is fantastic.

Claudia, may not get in here everyday, but, would so enjoy the discussion of these two soaps. At least an hour and half a day, my mind can escape the real life issues. LOL

I watch both everyday, for the days others things need to be taken care of TiVo records them.

Really like the Victor & Sabrina story line, so hope they keep her alive.

Was not shocked that David was the killers, can remember back to one show where where Walter called him by another name rather than David. Looking like they may try to pair up Paul and Nikki, of course it wouldn't be the first time around for them.

B & B, wished they would not show so much scenery of LA at the opening of the show, or the start up after commercials. As is we only get appox, 17 minutes of showtime. Getting very tired of some more 5-10 minutes per show, seeing Ridge and Brooke getting ready to do the nasty. Hasn't she worn that thing out by now. LOL

Didn't care for Donna on the Y & R, she still is not impressing me. Will admit, glad to see Big Stephanie suffer some pain over the things she did to Eric & the Logan family. Think Ridge, Thorne & Felica are a bunch of spoiled rich kids.

Not seeing Brooke helping Donna at Forresters Creations. Do think Rick can pull it off. After all he did head up the overseas operation.

Don't check out the daily spoilers as that seems to take something away from watching daily. If you know what I mean.

Remember Paul in his teens, when he hooked up with April, they had Heather, did not marry, IIRC. Remember him and Nikki, him and Lauren and the last one, she now is on Housewives, she went nuts and died, what about the son they had. Paul just took him to live with her parents and since no mention of the boy. Paul had a sister and brother who is now a Priest, what happened to Patti, the sister? Mary from time to time still makes an appearance. His Dad passed away. (think)

Yep, this one was on a snooze fest for awhile with really really stupid storylines.. but sure has perked up.

Victor is one of those you love to hate.. I tell ya there is something about that guy that I just like... and dang he looks good in a black tshirt or a tux. lol.

Michael Evans, who appeared for over a decade as Y&R's Col. Douglas Austin, has died. The veteran of film, screen and stage appeared opposite Harry Belafonte and Audrey Hepburn during his spectacular 40-plus-year career.


Michael Evans, a veteran of film, television and stage, including a long-running role on CBS's The Young and the Restless has died at the age of 87. The cause of his death was not released.

Born John Michael Evans, Evans' career began in his native England with a bit of a surprise; the young thespian chose a spot at The Old Vic over an offer from the Royal Shakespeare Repertory. The decision worked out well for Evans, who studied under Michel St. Denis.

Evans landed in the United States via the Broadway show "Ring Around the Moon," in which he starred opposite Harry Belafonte. The success of the show led to a national tour.

In his next major project, Evans starred opposite another Hollywood legend, a young Audrey Hepburn, in the stage version of the film "Gigi." According to many accounts, Evans was instrumental in Hepburn's early success.

Other notable roles included the role of Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady." While Evans may forever lay claim to best performance as Higgins, critics were originally skeptical of Evans being cast in the role.

After appearing in the film version of "Bye Bye Birdie," Evans went on to appear in guest roles on television. He enjoyed a 16-year run as Col. Douglas Austin on The Young and the Restless. The actor's two stints with the show ran from 1980 to 1985 and 1987 to 1995.

Evans is survived by two sisters: Rosemarie and Bridget; as well as his sons, Nick Evans, of Beverly Hills, and Christopher Evans, of Northern California. Mr. Evans' second wife, Pat Sigris Evans, passed away in 1986.

Well, Sabrina is no more. *sigh* I can't say I'm sorry that she's gone simply because I didn't like her with Victor. I just couldn't see a long term relationship between the two because of the age difference. And what was up with her being preggo? Victor has had 2 vasectomies and supposedly he had them reversed in private a while back....right!

I'm not sorry to see David go but I don't like the lazy writing in making him responsible for most ever bad thing that has happened in GC in the past few years. Poor Nikki...she just can't catch a break! Of course, she brings most of it on herself.

It looks like the entire rest of the summer and on into the fall is going to be really great on the show and I look forward to it.

Now, B&B. Have you heard that Katie is pregnant? She hasn't had sex on screen, or even a good hint at it, so I can't imagine where this baby is coming from unless it's imaculate conception. Again, lazy writing IMO.

Think Adam will throw a monkey wrench into Jackie's plans. However do not care for this story line either.

The new writer for Y & R came from Guiding Light, since she left that soap is not in jeapordy of being taken off TV, beginning to look like this is what she is trying to do for Y & R, lose their viewers and ratings.

I have been down for the count with bronchitis for the past week. I watched a lot of TV over the weekend and yesterday....including soap operas. What happened to Bold and Beautiful? It was awful. They need to send some of them off on a world journey and bring them back with new, fresh actors in their place. It was painful to watch.

I kind of like the ATWT storyline. Is Craig really bad? Will Carly fall for him? Will Katie and whats his name get their baby? I will be checking back on this one.

We have Adam, a supposedly blind man that has now tortured and terrorized an innocent PREGNANT woman to the point that she has lost her unborn child. We saw him change her nightgown and clean up the blood from her miscarriage, now he's blackmailing a doctor to tell her she's still pg. No wonder the actor that plays the part told the show to shove it.

We have a woman, Sharon, who is pregnant and there are 3 men that could be her child's father.

We have Jack that slept with his ex wife and his girlfriend within a matter of a few hours...he didn't even bathe between the two romps. Yet he still wants Sharon's baby to be his.

We have Billy who ignores his new bride and his new daughter to chase after a woman he loved in high school that he thought until recently was his 1st cousin.

We have a man, Phillip III who we saw DEAD in a coffin 20 years ago that is now being shown as a bartender in Australia...

This is the worst mess I've ever seen on this show, and I'm seriously considering just using my hour per day for something besides being treated as an idiot by these writers.:madranting94dp:

I have to laugh Panda, at how you put it.. I totally agree. I have been watching this show since I was 16, and I don't know what these writers are thinking either. I told my girlfriend about the shows plots and she said we should watch "All My Children', as it's getting really great..:) I said I was addicted to CBS and couldn't switch at this late date. I do tape it so I can fast forward past certain parts.

The writers have destroyed this show. There is bed hopping now - there used to be romance. The s/l's become more and more ridiculous. This show no longer entertains - it stretched credulity to new heights. When a new character with potential, like Adam, is introduced he is soon destroyed. How sad.

In the real world one DNA test and it stays a record from then on. As we have no real privacy in these computer days.

Adam was a character that one loves to hate, the chip off the old block of Victor in the beginning Days of the show, when he had Julia caged in the basement.

The only two story lines going worth paying attention to are Paul & Nikki, they are so cute together and Mrs. C and Murphy.

Paul has a brother who is a priest, that part is played by Mrs. C's real life son. Corburn Benson.

The part of playing the gay thing, between Rafe & Adams is offensive to the gay community, IMO.

Was happy to see Phyliss slap Heather, too bad it wasn't harder. Really do not want to see her back with Nick.

For the first time in 30 years, I've walked away from Y&R. The way the writers of this soap have continued to write all the women on the show as weak and spineless left a very bad taste in my mouth. But when they had the psycho Mary Jane cause little Summer to go into a coma, and continue to allow Ashley to walk around with a dead baby inside her, I said enough.

Now, I understand that Deacon has blackmailed Amber into having sex with him. IMO, this was nothing short of rape and I don't want to see that crap on my TV. Also, the only younger black female on the show, Lily, has been given a total hysterectomy at the age of 22. The writers seem determined that there will be no cultural or color differences on this show.

I won't go back until or unless these writers get their act together and learn how to write something that's entertaining without all this stupid mess.

Hope is the child she had by Deacon, Bridgette's first husband at the time.
Brooke and Ridge have R.J., a DNA had to be done to figure that out, either him or Nick.

Nick has his and Brooke's son, that Taylor gave birth too, by vetro, thinking it was from a regular egg donar. B's eggs got mixed in the lab, by accident. Taylor was having a mental breakdown over the baby not being her's she gave it to Nick to raise, Brooke gets to visit. See you don't hear about little Jack these days. Next time we see him he could be a teenager, as fast as they age children in soaps.

I understand today that crazy Mary Jane, who Victor brought back to town (she's really Paul's sister Patty) killed Zapato...Victor's beautiful golden retriever! It just wouldn't be the same without her. That was an amazing scene where she went to Victor and told him she still loves him. It was inevitable though.

I don't think we'll find out what happened to Nikki until Melody Thomas Scott is back on screen. At the time of the 'accident', MTS was in contract negotiations and was prepared to leave the show. After a month of not filming, she settled with the show so we should see her on screen again some time in September. I'm anxious to see how the writers explain where she's been.

The Young and the Restless without Eric Braeden's Victor Newman? It may seem unthinkable to fans of the CBS soap, but the unthinkable just became reality. A contract flap between Braeden and show execs has prompted the show to write out Victor and Nikki. Will either return? A rep says maybe not.

The Young and the Restless is grappling with yet another high-profile contract stalemate. After weeks of tense negotiations, talks between show executives and Emmy winner Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) have broken off. As a result, the top-rated CBS soap has written out the iconic patriarch of the Newman family.

TVGuide Canada's Nelson Branco reports that the impasse with Braeden is nearly identical to that with Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) earlier this year: the show wants the actors to accept a salary cut in the middle of an already-negotiated contract.

"Actors like Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott, who this past summer was written out after she balked over the same issue, are furious; not over the fact that they are being asked to take pay cuts, but that they are being expected to re-negotiate their contracts during their 13-week cycles," Branco reports. "It is important to note that they are willing to take pay cuts but at the end of their contracts."

Earlier this month, The Young and the Restless put out a casting call for the role of "Tucker," described as a 40-to-50-something billionaire with a dark side. The casting call, coupled with reports that talks between Braeden and show brass were not going well, set off a firestorm of speculation. Reports surfaced that Tucker was the show's covert attempt to replace Braeden.

The show issued a prompt statement to deny claims that a new Victor might soon be popping up in Genoa City.

"This not a scare tactic. Tucker is a new character, not a Victor Newman recast," a show spokesperson said.

While the show also notes that it has not yet cast the role of Tucker, soapcentral.com has learned that Y&R execs want a "big name" star for the role. Tucker is slated to debut sometime in November.

Meanwhile, on what could turn out to be his final day on the set, an emotional Braeden reportedly stunned his castmates by announcing his departure.

According to Branco, Braeden informed "the cast [that] he may not come back and thanked the cast and crew for decades of memories."

Whether or not Braeden ever returns remains very much in doubt, and even the actor's rep isn't offering much light at the end of the tunnel.

"Eric is in talks with the show," the rep tells soapcentral.com. "He may or may not be back."

Technically, Braeden's contact isn't up until next year. The show exercised its option at the end of Braeden's most recent 13-week cycle to write out Victor. For now, Victor and Nikki will leave Genoa City for vacation. It's assumed that Nikki will return a short time later. What will happen to Victor is unclear.

Eric Braeden made his debut on The Young and the Restless in 1980. In 1998, the actor earned his very first Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Lead Actor field. He has five additional nominations in the category. In 2007, Braeden was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Eric Braeden: Precisely.

EW: As of today, are you willing to take what Sony offered?

Braeden: No. There is no appreciation of the fact that I've been an important part of the show for 27 years that has been No. 1 in the ratings. That's extraordinary. So to be dealt with in a perfunctory matter as if you had just known these people for a few months is what is most offensive. This is a certain corporate culture now that is very deleterious.

One more thing, why can football, basketball players make such outragous wages? Yet a daytime soap wants wages cut.

Sony has confirmed that it signed a new deal with Eric Braeden to keep the soap opera veteran as Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. Braeden, 68, was preparing to say goodbye to the show that he called home since 1980 after the production company demanded that he take what he described as a ”substantial” pay cut to his seven-figure salary. Terms of the new deal were not released but a source familiar with the negotiations said the actor ended up accepting a pay decrease in exchange for a new, three-year pact.

Speaking exclusively to EW.com, Braeden said he and Sony returned to the negotiation table Oct. 23 and settled the deal amicably (he declined to comment on the specifics). “All’s well that end’s well,” Braeden said. “Both sides were reasonable. We were both satisfied with the outcome. This business is tough.”

Braeden is not sure when he’ll return to the set because the writers have to figure out how to write him back into the show. Asked to explain how his character was going to leave in the first place, Braeden said executive producer/head writer Maria Arena Bell had Victor “going off to rehabilitation.” The notion makes him laugh now. “It was rehabilitation … from the negotiations,” Braeden said, chuckling. “He’s been cured miraculously! Miracles do happen. A week ago, I didn’t think they would.”

CBS released the following statement: “We’re very happy that Eric will be remaining with The Young and the Restless. Victor Newman has been an important part of the Genoa City canvas for nearly 30 years, and we know our audience will be tuning in to see what his plans are next.”

Bell released her own statement, as well: “We are thrilled to have Eric Braeden continue as the one and only Victor Newman. We look forward to his timely return … and we are delighted that Eric will continue his extraordinary work on The Young and the Restless.’”
