I agree we need to use our own resources and get out from under these ridiculously high prices.

He says, "America is in a hole and it's getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year - four times the annual cost of the Iraq war."

We are 5% of the world's population, yet we use 25% of the world's energy resources. In just 15 years, China will match us in energy demand. And THEN the you know what will hit the fan as China does whatever it has to do to get the supply over us.

These eco-ideologues better get their head out of the sand in the US and start to let us use our own resources in Alaska, out West and offshore, to develop alternatives to using Arab oil.

Some argue about the figures but IMO pickens plan will do little other than make him richer. Check out this chart: http://www.theoildrum.com/files/ncmo01_0.gif From what I've read we have plenty of oil but are prevented from going after it by wacky tree huggers.

I haven't had a chance to read the link, just agree that we have the resources in this country and why keep making other countries richer while our citizens are getting poorer?

Our government hasn't done a damn thing in the last 30 yrs and they won't do anything until oil in the Middle East is totally cut off to the United States. We had a wake-up call 30+ yrs ago. I don't see anything happening in my lifetime and I'm 55. Again, unless we are totally cut off from the Middle East, then and only then will our sorry government decide to do something. JMHO

I agree although I have hope that "those in charge" will start drilling or doing whatever it takes to make us at least somewhat energy-independent before the seemingly inevitable catastrophe in the Middle East occurs.

We've had a series of Clowns (at least regarding Energy) in charge and when I look at the 2 leading candidates one gives me some hope and the other none at all.
