Hi Paulie! Pix in a Post question please. Do you have to upload to a photo bucket kind of place to be able to insert them? I tried a few times to get out of a folder on my puter, but no go. Appreciate any info, TY

Pauli

You need to upload to either photobucket, or some other that hosts photos. Or you can go to your usercp, create and album and upload the photo in there. Then just use the [img] code to paste in the post... or you can upload as an attachment.. when you write your post, before hitting submit, scroll down to attach files and click on manage attachments.. a box will open up and let you browse your pc for a photo you have stored on it. Click on the photo and the upload.

I've now done this three times. It keeps uploading to something but there is nothing on the post. When I started whatever was at zero not it keeps going up. I'm lost as usual.

I want to use a graphic as the anchor to link another location and I can't seem to get it to work.

Say I want to go TO: http://helpfindthemissing.org/forum/

by clicking on: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g258/PatC_pics/smilies/clickheref.gif (as the I M G file)

Logic would make it seem I could enter the graphic:

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g258/PatC_pics/smilies/clickheref.gif

then highlight that command (anchor) with the link's URL like this:

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g258/PatC_pics/smilies/clickheref.gif (http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff127/twilight_lover341/fudge.jpg)

but it doesn't work for me. (watch it work this time.....) Nope, it didn't.

Actually I can't seem to get a simple LINK (http://helpfindthemissing.org/forum/showthread.php?p=321327#post321327) to work. What the heck am I doing wrong?????

<a href="http://www.sweetim.com/s.asp?im=gen&ref=11" target="_blank"><img

Part of the problem is with the tags used and the protocol for online internet documents vs. message boards. The internet uses HTML = hyper text markup language and it uses greater than and less than symbols < and > for it’s “tags”. Message boards use brackets [ ]. The string you used above had the GT/LT in it which boards don’t know how to translate.

Now, you need to understand enough about HTML to know how to pull out of your Smilie Central stuff the string of information you need to post.

Using the string of data in your/my earlier example:

<a href="http://www.sweetim.com/s.asp?im=gen&ref=11" target="_blank"><img src="http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/0002006A.gif" border=0 ></a>

What you’re looking for is what I’ve highlighted using red text. The “img src” is the HTML tag that tells the computer go find the source (src) of the image (img) you want it to display here. Clear? I hope so.

Now all you have to do is COPY everything BETWEEN THE QUOTE SIGNS FOLLOWING THE EQUAL SIGN… in this case, http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/0002006A.gif

And then go to an open Reply window on the board, click on the picture icon (the mountain) and paste it in. I always overwrite the existing http:// that’s there when you first click on the picture icon with the entire URL. That way I don’t drop something out. Try it and see if this works for you. I won’t be here after tomorrow morning until Monday, so I hope this helps you.

If not, and you can wait, let me know and I’ll see what went wrong.

Actually, Pauli, what DRJAN wants to do can be done. Using her posts showing the URLs, I've been able to get the gifs to display. She's ALMOST there every time, just teeny, tiny, minor glitches. The last one was clicking on the link icon rather than the picture icon.

The one before that was simply picking up the ending quote mark as part of the URL she pasted in the window. I didn't know until I tested it, but you can't have a quote mark in the string.... even if you use both the opening and closing quotes. I tried it because I thought at first the problem was when she copied the URL, she only picked up the closing quote, but in my test, the gif wouldn't display either way.... there can be no quote marks.

Well i don't know I triend everything, I clicked the mountain and still nothing I guess it is not meant for me. thank you for all your help and for taking the time to help me

This time you copied the ending quote sign as part of your image string.
Are you typing in this string rather than doing a copy & paste? The reason I'm asking is that the string you have above is missing the ".com" after "smileycentral"

If you quote your own post above, you'll see the string ends with:

.....s m i l e y s.s m i l e y c e n t r a l./cat/8/8_1_220.gif" (spaces added to trick the computer) See that quote mark at the very end? That's what's keeping the image from displaying.

If I add the required ".com" and delete that final quote mark, this is what you'll see.

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_1_220.gif

Don't give up. Once you get it, you'll really enjoy using the graphics.

What internet access do you have? Could the games in the Arcade need more horsepower than your connection will carry? That's all I can think of and I don't know how to find out. Pauli (or one of the moderators) will have to answer that one.

You're going to have to find a place to upload your file (moz-screenshot-37.jpg) somewhere on the internet before you can use the "IMG" tag.

The string above shows a path to where the picture is on your computer.

Do you have an account on one of the image storage places? I use Photobucket, but there are other free locations too. I think you can upload pictures here to HFTM too, but I've kept that to a minimum.

Here is the internet address to a photo in my Photobucket account

h t t p : / / i 5 8 . p h o t o b u c k e t . c o m / a l b u m s / g 2 5 8 / P a t C _ p i c s . . . .

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g258/PatC_pics/smilies/image002.gif

If you post a URL without any other tag, the board automatically makes a link to that location so I had to add the spaces in the URL.

The point I was trying to make though is you need the picture to be on the internet before you can display it.

Hope this helps.

It's not copying and pasting, Anna. She is using some function that allows that uses this code, but I can't figure it out and Billie doesn't know what she is doing that gives her the code.

Choosing Link Colors for Ads (http://blog.waipyo.com/2009/10/choosing-link-colors-for-google-adsense.html)

Posted by Wai Pyo on Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Labels: Web Design (http://blog.waipyo.com/search/label/Web%20Design)

As a rule of thumb, the safe color for text links is "blue". People's perception of web links has always been blue and I don't know when it will change to another color.

Being a Google Adsense publisher, I often find it hard to optimize the ads. To blend or contrast. To use borders or not. Rounded corners or squares. I'll leave placement optimization here because I'm discussing about link colors.

In my opinion, link colors play quite an important role in the success of text links advertisements. Of course, you can use all the colors available for your website. You can blend the ads with the content or make the ads stand out by using contrasting colors. But why do search engines use similar colors for the links in search result pages? I did a little research and here's what I found.

Google's default color for links is #2200CC and simple HTML default "green" for URL.
Yahoo uses #0000DE for links and #008000 for URL.
Answers.Com uses #003399 plus #529C00 for a hovered link.

As you can see, there seems to be no difference of color in Google and Yahoo though Answers.com uses a darker blue. My research continues.

Technorati uses #3333CC for both title and URL in its adsense ads. It also uses a gray border and rounded corners.

CNN uses #004276 for links and #CA0002 for hovered links.

Facebook uses #3B5998 for links.

Well, I just did this little research out of curiosity. I know a little bit more about link colors now than before.

or other uses, see WYSIWYG (disambiguation) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG_%28disambiguation%29). WYSIWYG (pronounced /ˈwɪziˌwɪg/ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IPA_for_English)[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG#cite_note-0)), is an acronym (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acronym) for What You See Is What You Get. The term is used in computing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computing) to describe a system in which content displayed during editing appears very similar to the final output,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG#cite_note-1) which might be a printed document, web page, slide presentation or even the lighting for a theatrical event.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)]
The phrase was originally a catch phrase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch_phrase) popularized by Flip Wilson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip_Wilson)'s drag persona "Geraldine" (from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowan_%26_Martin%27s_Laugh-In) in the late 60s and then on The Flip Wilson Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flip_Wilson_Show) until 1974), who would often say "What you see is what you get" to excuse her quirky behavior.

What is different with what you are doing now than before?

The >> http://helpfindthemissing.org/forum/images/styles/bgreen/editor/switchmode.gif << is already pushed whereas on "default" it is not.

WYSIWYG

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG#column-one), search (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG#searchInput)
For other uses, see WYSIWYG (disambiguation) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WYSIWYG_(disambiguation)).

Gift Wrap, Tags, and Bows

Silver Tissue Paper

Use simple, inexpensive materials such as silver tissue paper, then transform gifts with special ribbons and items from your wrappings box.

Label this with a few descriptive words -- also called tags -- to organize your collection.

Separate each tag with a comma. If this is a brownie recipe, you might type: chocolate, dessert, Sue's party Add a note below. This note can be seen only by you.

Leave yourself a reminder, a tweak, an idea, or anything else related to this item. http://www.marthastewart.com/images/assets/module/registration/reg_cancel.gifhttp://www.marthastewart.com/images/assets/module/registration/reg_submit.gif

Candy Wrapping

Dress packages in candy stripes for a sweet presentation. Use double-sided tape to secure the end of a length of ribbon to the bottom of a wrapped package. Wind around box, spacing stripes evenly; thread a tag through the free end of the ribbon. Finish by affixing ribbon underneath the box with double-sided tape. Repeat with ribbons in different widths or colors.

Several boxes are stacked and tied up in two giant ribbons. Each box is wrapped first in colored tissue paper, then frosted over with a sheet of glassine, available by the sheet or roll from archival-supply houses.

Purse-Shaped Package

This package is made from a sheet of heavy, textured paper folded around a tissue-wrapped gift. The outer layer is a 12-by-27-inch piece of Japanese kozo paper (commonly known as rice paper and available from specialty paper stores) backed with green paper. Use a ruler or bone folder, available from art-supply stores, to make neat creases 9 inches, 12 inches, and 21 inches from a short side of the paper. Enclose the gift, bind the package with a green satin ribbon, and finish it off with a slim brown ribbon tied in an elegant knot.

[URL="http://www.ehow.com/christmas/"]Christmas (http://helpfindthemissing.org/account/simple_login.aspx) only comes once a year, but we still give away presents year round for plenty of other reasons and knowing how to gift wrap a present is therefore always a valuable skill to have. These gift wrapping instructions are for a rectangular gift box, but can be applied to any size or shape of box.

I purchase a bag and matching tissue paper. Place gift in bag and cover with tissue.

:girl_haha:

Then again that was what I did in the past. This year since I don't yet have a tree or any gifts it may not be a problem....Pray for sunshine for the next couple of days.
