Twins with different skin colors — one black and the other white — have been born in Berlin, Germany.

Doctors say it is an extremely rare occurrence, but it is possible if genes combine in a certain way.

The twin boys, named Ryan and Leo, are the offspring of a mixed-race couple.

The mother, Florence, hails from Ghana in western Africa, and dad, Stephan, is from Potsdam in Germany.

"Ryan came first, and everything was as usual," said the hospital's doctor, Birgit Weber. "But when Leo was born, I couldn't believe my eyes."

"Both kids have definitely the same father," the doctor added.

I'm actually surprised it's so rare with a mixed race couple. Just seems like something that could happen. :shrug1:

WoW what if they had quads or more. Imagine the combinations. That would really be history making. Big beautiful boys.

One baby took mom's genes and one baby took daddy's genes. It's bound to happen.

I think they are just precious, little chubby checks, God Bless them...

wow! there seems to be no "mixed" look with either one! one looks totally black... and the other totally white!! wow, that's gonna be interesting!!

They are both adorable....The same thing happened a couple years back...but the babies were girls. The mom was white and the father was black. One was blonde even.

We have fraternal twins in our family, so it is no surprise to me. It is actually two separate conceptions. Our fraternal twins are a boy and girl......one red hair with blue eyes, the other sandy hair with deep brown eyes.
