10:15 p.m. - Detectives Look for Clues in Missing Teen Case

Detectives are searching for clues leading to the disappearance of a seventeen year old girl out of Sheridan. Pamelia Alise Westbrook, known as Alise, was last seen at home on her computer.

Detectives don't believe Alise was abducted. They think she left on her own accord. But now, they're concerned she had gone to meet someone she had possibly met online, and it's been nearly three weeks since anyone has heard from her.

17 year old Alise Westbrook had just returned from church camp when she was on the computer at her home, just outside of Sheridan. That was June 29th, the last time she was seen.

"In the past, she's made contact with strange older men online and met some of them in person, which concerns us," Detective Robert Bird with the Grant County Sherriff's Department said. said.

Detective Robert Bird says Westbrook has run away before, but she's always come home quickly and contacted family in the meantime. This time, there's been no contact, and no sign of her. Now officers are investigating phone calls and computer messages, hoping to find any clue in her disappearance

"There's always the chance something could happen. We hope that's not the case here. We hope she's missing on her own accord, and if that's the case, she sees this and contacts her family or us, and maybe this won't turn into a tragedy like some other cases have been," Bird said.

If you have any information about her whereabouts, you're asked to call the Grant County Sherriff's Department at 870-942-2101

Online Predators, Missing Arkansas Teen Update

Over the years, stories of predators seeking victims online have made news. However, the message hasn't hit home with some teens who risk their lives meeting up with strangers from cyberspace. Grant County Sheriff's detectives are dealing with such a case.

Connie Farrell doesn't know where to find her daughter, 17-year-old Pamelia Alise Westbrook. "I believe that she left on her own, but I don't know if she does not want to come home or someone is not letting come home," says Farrell.

She's been missing since Sunday, June 29th. Farrell says that day, her daughter likely chatted with someone online who picked her up from her family's home in Grant County. "I'm scared that she just can't come home," says Farrell.

Once Westbrook was missing, Farrell checked the family computers. There she found her daughter's MySpace page with the fictitious location of Bikini Bottoms, Arkansas, listed as her hometown, and her mood is posted as rebellious. Farrell also checked phone records; she says the discoveries are disturbing. "We've even found out from the phone company that she's been talking to people in Canada and everywhere, and I don't know how else she would have met them except online," says Farrell. Ferrell waited three days before telling the police about her daughter's disappearance until Wednesday afternoon when she didn't show up to work.

Detective Robert Bird with Grant County Sheriff's Department says even though the evidence points to an online initiated hook-up, Westbrook could be in danger. "It would be a shame if they make a simple mistake on the computer that could lead to a tragedy," says Bird.

Farrell and her family were going to move, but fear Westbrook wouldn't know where to find home.

Farrell says her daughter's been having problems since her dad died about four years ago. When she was 15, Westbrook ran away for six days. The difference this time is, she hasn't called any family or friends.

Authorities say they can't stress enough the importance of keeping kids safe from predators. Simple things can help, like keeping the computer where you can monitor what they're doing, can make all the difference.

Grande, the detective said he has cautioned the mom to not sign into her account in the past so hopefully that is Pamelia. Keeping fingers crossed.

Hmmm her account was signed into again today...I went to see if my friend request was still out there and it was then noticed that someone had signed in to her account again today but her mood, picture and all that are the same. Just for curiosity sake my daughter...who is a teen and closer to her age put in a friend request just to see if it is her and she would accept.

I wonder if there is a printable missing poster for Pamelia? I live about an hour south of Sheridan and I would like to print out some posters and put them around town.

Thanks

Evening Kaylynn. This certainly is another sad case where the media has dropped the ball imo. LE has checked her computer and advised her mother not to login into her MySpace account. I see that her MySpace account was accessed yet again yesterday by someone. No updates unfortunately, I'll continue to check daily.

Started reading this thread and got plain sick thinking about all the horrible things that could have happened to this teen. So glad to read where has been found safe.

I hope her mother will get her some therapy. If she has been having problems since her dad died (especially talking with older men on the internet) then it is time to seek help. This teen may not be so lucky next time with all the perverts on the internet.

:1222423:So glad she is safe.
