DETROIT -- An Amber Alert has been issued for a disabled 12-year-old girl who was last seen leaving a Port Huron playground Monday evening.

Michigan State police said Monica Marie Rogan is believed to be in extreme danger after she failed to return home.

Rogan was last seen walking home from Roosevelt School playground on Court and 20th streets around 6 p.m. Monday.

Police described Rogan as 5 feet tall, weighing 80 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

She was last seen wearing a brown short sleeve T-shirt, blue jean shorts and green flip-flops.

I was going to ask if there had to be a witnessed abduction for an Amber Alert being issued. I googled my way to an answer...no...

Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria

* There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
* The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
* There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
* The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
* The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.


I'm glad MI isn't afraid to issue an Amber Alert....
