Immunity Deal For Casey Anthony Expires As Crews Look For Caylee

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Everyone wants to know where Caylee is, but the girl's own mother proved again Tuesday that she doesn't care to tell anyone. Casey Anthony failed to accept an offer of limited immunity Tuesday that would have spared her from some prosecution if she would help detectives find her missing daughter.


It's now been 49 days since Caylee was reported missing. Casey's attorney offered no explanation Tuesday as to why she didn't accept the immunity offer, saying only, "No comment."

Attorney Jose Baez mumbled the quiet "no comment" before shutting his office door Tuesday, shortly after the State Attorney's Office issued a statement saying it has not heard from Casey Anthony's attorney about its offer of limited immunity.

"As of this morning, the State has not heard from the defense attorney regarding our offer to speak about the case. The offer has now expired," the State Attorney's Office statement read.

Under the deal, Casey could have spoken with investigators and anything she told them about her missing daughter's disappearance could not have been used against her, but any evidence investigators found based on her statements could have been used to prosecute her.

The refusal to talk comes just two days after sheriff's investigators announced for the first time that forensic evidence from Casey's car tells them Caylee is no longer alive.

"These things lead us to believe Caylee is deceased," said Commander Matt Irwin, Orange County Sheriff's Office.

With that grim reality and the immunity deadline passed, Caylee's mother Casey is back in jail… not saying a word. Her family isn't saying much either. George Anthony drove straight into the garage Tuesday and closed the door. Later in the day, Lee Anthony and then Cindy Anthony did the same.

Meanwhile, bounty hunter Leonard Padilla is back in California, but said his team is working to find where the dumpster near Casey's abandoned car was emptied and may try to search that area.

I'm very sad to hear that Tim is feeling as he is, but I hope that for his sake and the sake of other TES members, he follows his heart. He looks so sad. "I don't ask them for anything. Now is the time for LE to ask for assistance from him and his group. But, I think the problem is two fold. 1. they suffer from poor turn out and community support and 2. Cindy must be threatening him legally or harassing him in some way.

Well, in fairness, I wish Tim would just confirm or deny what he told NG. It is important for the public to know just how 'helpful' the family is being, especially with Cindy shooting her mouth off about how no one is doing the right thing by the Anthonys'.

Per NG interview with TIM sounds like he may be moving on. He said he has people requesting his services who have REAL missing people to find.

I am excluding the information about the cadaver dogs, the testing from TN and the FBI......

I couldn't agree more! I've paid attention to other cases where he's given way more than 100% to find the missing, including his team diving in murky river water, to Natalee's case in Aruba. He's a saint, imo.

I agree with you, and the first logical thing Casey would've done is to report Caylee missing or abducted by whoever. Instead she's photographed out partying at Fusion and lies about everything including telling her new boyfriend Caylee's with a nanny or G/C, and when she finally is picked up by LE, she lies to them.

If they took the reward down to say, 10K they would have less "guess" calls. Obviously, that's the problem when you have 1000's of leads coming in.

He'd be fired, imo! If I 100% believed my daughter saying my granddaughter had been abducted by somebody, and my daughter was sitting in jail, and some lawyer was telling her not to talk to anybody including LE, I'd be madder than heck at that lawyer!

I love you to death Jute, but I disagree, Cindy has not shown anything but CYA mode from day one.

I honestly believe that she knows that Caylee is gone from this world, and she helped cover up for Casey.

I don't think it is because of 'love' for Casey, I think rather it is to avoid a larger scandal in regards to her family.
