But, when I told him I had to put her back in this morning before I went to work, he knew. He wants her "for sale" now. I am so upset....I cant keep her in anything. I hate to chain her. I really love that dog, but cant have her killing my chickens either.

When my daughter was born the sperm donor and I bought a GSD/husky puppy we named Mikita. She was great until I noticed she wasn't handling have another "baby" around. I gave her too my friend who was moving to W. Virginia to a farm. He also was raising chickens. Mikita found a taste for the kill and got caught. As mean as it sounds, Greg said he beat the crap outta her w/one of the dead chix the whole time yelling NO NO NO. When she killed the first one the other day, my DH slapped her with it. She didn't like that at all. I though about that. When I get home I am going to walk her (leashed)all through the chicken pens and hope she trys something so I can do my Alpha dog thing (another story). DH says she wont do anything with me there....at this point, I will try anything. The other problem, she is climbing, digging, anything to get out when we kennel her. She can fit through the smallest areas for such a big pup. She climbed a 7 foot kennel and dug under the field fence. Also goes through hotwire. Went to K-mart the other nite and found this pet toy. Its a squirrel, looks kinda like rocky. It has a huge rubberband inside its belly so you can shoot it like a slingshot w/your thumb. Buddy is so stupid, he's been carrying the think around like its his baby. We ask him Buddy wheres your baby, he'll go pick it up pretty as you please, snuggle down w/it, he's been sleeping w/it but, when you shoot it he's all dog, bitein and shakin back and forth, it's totally hiliarious. When she killed the first one the other day, my DH slapped her with it. She didn't like that at all. I though about that. When I get home I am going to walk her (leashed)all through the chicken pens and hope she trys something so I can do my Alpha dog thing (another story). DH says she wont do anything with me there....at this point, I will try anything. The other problem, she is climbing, digging, anything to get out when we kennel her. She can fit through the smallest areas for such a big pup. She climbed a 7 foot kennel and dug under the field fence. Also goes through hotwire. I may have to chain her in her kennel.....:blondblush113268230

:1187603408.CR.Mothe Just talked to DH, Wendy has killed three more of my chickens. He though some other predator got them because she was still in her kennel when he wnet out. But, when I told him I had to put her back in this morning before I went to work, he knew. He wants her "for sale" now. I am so upset....I cant keep her in anything. I hate to chain her. I really love that dog, but cant have her killing my chickens either.

Wow, that's really too bad, Gramma. There HAS to be a way to break her of that. Maybe check with the Dog Whisperer's web site and see if there's anything there... or do a search for the problem. Are the chickens 'free range'??

When my daughter was born the sperm donor and I bought a GSD/husky puppy we named Mikita. She was great until I noticed she wasn't handling have another "baby" around. I gave her too my friend who was moving to W. Virginia to a farm. He also was raising chickens. Mikita found a taste for the kill and got caught. As mean as it sounds, Greg said he beat the crap outta her w/one of the dead chix the whole time yelling NO NO NO. Then penned her for a week letting her out leashed for a walk 2x a day parading by the hen house and NO NO NO. (sounds cruel if ya ask me) but she never went after the chix again.

OK, BL. Here is the Jezebel Sauce (I LOVE this stuff)

1 18 oz. jar Pineapple Preserves
1 18 oz. jar Apple Jelly
1 small can dry mustard
1 small jar Horseradish
1 Tablespoon cracked pepper

Combine all ingredients, blend well, put in jelly jars and refrigerate. Will keep refrigerated indefinitely.



I like using it like a sweet & sour sauce on oriental food, like Horseradish on roast beef, like salsa on scrambled eggs (or pretty much anything else you put salsa on). I even like it on biscuits to spice up a breakfast. Come to think of it, I like it on pretty much everything. :girl_haha:

I do too but sometimes I get so frustrated with these two. Should have taken them to obedience school but just kept putting it off until it was too late to do any good. DRJAN, it isn't really complex. You don't even have to have your own Photobucket (or other online site) for graphics/photos.

Go to Photobucket here (http://photobucket.com/?special_track=nav_logo)

You can join and upload your own stuff there, but you can also find stuff other's have made available. Type in a subject in the search box and make sure "images" is what you're searching for. For instance "dance".

You will "find" LOTS of hits. It shows 379,128 right now. They will be "smilies", pictures of real people, cards, cartoons.... When you find what you want to use, click on it, the one you picked will come up on your screen in a larger box with URLs beneath it. To paste it in a message, I always click on the bottom URL, i.e., "IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards". If you click in the right spot, a message saying "copied" will pop up temporarily... then all you have to do is go to your open post/reply box and paste the URL in. If you do it that way, it will already have the URL tag on it.

If you find a photo somewhere else or if you use the "Direct Link" URL, you need to click on the icon at the top of the post/reply box and when it opens, paste the URL there.

I always preview my post to make sure I got it right.

Try it. You'll like it. :67302: Actually, I find that the proper pictures convey the message I want to get across better than words alone.

There are other sources, of course. Sometimes I go to the Google page, select images and search that way.
