Spector 2: Trial Coverage
There has been a misconception on blogs and message boards that the Spector retrial will be televised. That's not necessarily the case.
At the last pretrial hearing, Judge Fidler stated that no media organization has approached him to put cameras in the courtroom. Fidler stated, that there was not as much media interest for this trial. When I was sitting there in court, this came as a shock to me. Everyone had just assumed that the retrial would be covered.
My co-blogger at Trials & Tribulations, donchais, contacted some people she know in the media industry and practically begged them to look into this. First, was TruTV going to cover the trial, and if not, would they be interested and could they do it?
The media group informed us that after investigating, it looks like TruTV is NOT going to cover Spector 2. This is the group that every other news outlet that offered live streaming coverage obtained their feed from. They were the one's with the cameras.
We were also told that the cost to put cameras in the courtroom (meeting Judge Fidler's requirements of small cameras, mounted on the wall and hidden behind boxes) was prohibitive for their group to cover this cost. At 30,000 a month (and that would just cover expenses; it does not include a profit) with no clear picture on how long the trial might last the group came back to T&T and asked, would the public be willing to pay to see this trial? The more people who were willing to pay, the lower the cost would be per person.
So that's what we're asking. If you are willing to pay to see Spector 2, please drop by Trials & Tribulations (http://sprocket-trials.blogspot.com/2008/09/spector-part-deux-can-we-get-coverage.html) and leave a comment. You don't have to join Blogger to comment. You can leave a comment anonymously. You can also sign the petition that is linked there. Although the petition asks for a donation, you are under no obligation to pay a fee to add your name to the petition.
Are you willing? It is imperative to leave a message so we can gauge what kind of interest there is and get it put in motion!! The media folks are monitoring the responses on the blog.

OF COURSE I want to see this trial televised!! This trial NEEDS to be televised. It wouldn't be fair to those of us who invested so much time and interest in the first trial to not be able to see the second trial! Justice has been delayed...we need to SEE that it has not been denied.
I tried to sign the petition, but was unable to due to server problems. I will continue to try.

Sprocket ~ I would be willing to pay if I was home during the day to watch it, but I work so unless there is video to watch at night it wouldn't be worth my money. It is too bad things aren't the same as they were with the first trial when both courttv and KTLA covered the trial. :frown:

As of last Thursday, I confirmed with the LA County Public Information Office that two news organizations had filled out the proper paperwork applications and have been approved.
The Associated Press: Still Photography
KTLA (independent local channel 5) for the following: Opening statements, portions of testimony, closing arguments, verdict, and sentencing.
As of this point, there appears there will be some coverage of the trial.

I'm so sorry that a news organization is not interested in spending the bucks to live feed this trial.
With the economy the way it is, many news outlets are not even going to have a reporter cover the trial.
I will be there as many days as I possibly can. I will also be looking into the possibility of blogging from the back row. The only problem I've had with that in the past, is I was never able to maintain a good Internet connection in courtroom 106 through "tethering" with my phone.

I look forward to anything you can provide, and understand completely, your limitations. I wish I knew a better way for you to maintain an Internet connection..but alas, I am not that savvy!~
You can certainly color me disappointed. I have been anxiously awaiting PS2 since I picked myself up off the floor when I heard there was a hung jury at the first trial.
As for why it will not be shown.... I read Michal Bryant's blog the other day over on The Legal Edge. He was trying to find a way to televise the PS2 trial. One of the reasons he gave for not televising it was:
* "Ratings at CTV proved not enough people watched the first version of the Spector case."
Personally I find that REALLY hard to believe, but CTV ratings may well have been plummeting, but IMO it was because CTV was tanking, NOT because the trial was not being watched.
Also, the fact that it was a West Coast trial threw it later in the day... I can't remember, is that one of those West Coast trials that CTV cut us off before the end of the trial day?
He did tell me that "...KTLA is planning on minimal coverage of Openings; Closings and Verdict".
He also said he'd investigated running it as a "pay for view" type show but the costs were prohibitive.
I swear, if I had the money, I'd travel out there in order to see this trial!
DISCLAIMER: If anyone else has posted this information, I apologize, I did not read all the way up-thread.

I got an email/memo from Michael Bryant @ TLE
and I must say, 35$ per month to watch a
trial is a tad too much.
Not that I can't afford it, it's the principle of it.
I saw the first trial, every word and see no reason to
pay to watch the retrial.
I really don't think TLE will get many takers for the 35$
per month price tag.
My main interest would be the opening statements and
closing arguments & the verdict, which as I understand,
KTLA will carry those......for free.
Precisely

I got the e-mail, too, and also replied that it was a little steep. Also, I asked them if they would need a commitment of months 'cause otherwise how would they know beyond one month how many people would stay?

I got it, too, and I have lots of others things to spend $35 on (like my medicine). Oh, well. Maybe KTLA will semi-cover it. I never could sit through the whole day anyway.

The problem with relying on others, e.g., KTLA is that they all used the TruTV camera feed for their broadcasts.

AND NOW...THE PHIL SPECTOR RETRIAL (http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/california/la-me-spector19-2008oct19,0,3838087.story)
http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-10/42967514.jpg
Thirteen months after jurors deadlocked in the music producer's murder trial, jury selection begins for the second go-round. He faces 18 years in prison if convicted of killing actress Lana Clarkson.
By Harriet Ryan, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
October 19, 2008
A smiling Phil Spector shuffled out of a downtown Los Angeles courthouse 13 months ago after his murder trial ended in a hung jury, stepped into a chauffeured Mercedes and sped back to his Alhambra mansion. In the driveway of the hilltop estate, the legendary music producer and his wife danced ebulliently while waving to hovering news helicopters.
The specifics of the deadlock might not seem worthy of celebration -- jurors voted 10 to 2 for conviction -- but the mistrial guaranteed the 67-year-old a period of freedom and the opportunity to retool his defense.
How long Spector remains a free man will probably be decided at his retrial, which begins this week with the selection of a new jury. The man whose work with musicians such as the Beatles, the Ramones and Tina Turner revolutionized pop music faces a minimum of 18 years in prison if convicted of second-degree murder.
He will arrive at the same courtroom, sit at the same table and listen, once again, as prosecutors paint him as an unstable gun nut who shot an actress in the mouth because she rebuffed his sexual advances. And Spector's defense will counter, as it did last year, that Lana Clarkson was suicidal over her flagging Hollywood career and shot herself in the foyer of his home on Feb. 3, 2003.
If the retrial is largely a reprise, it is likely to be a shorter performance in a different key. Spector has replaced his sprawling and at times dysfunctional legal team -- half a dozen attorneys, including a bombastic New York City mob lawyer not always on speaking terms with colleagues -- with a single attorney, a sober San Franciscan with a record of converting retrials into acquittals.
"Both sides understand a little more clearly what evidence is most important," said Spector's attorney, Doron Weinberg.
"We'll have a more efficient trial and one that I think will be easier for the jury to follow and understand."
Judge Larry Paul Fidler told prospective jurors that he hopes the case will conclude in three months -- two months less than last year's trial.
Side issues extended the length of that proceeding: A Hollywood madam teetered into the courtroom in stilettos and a micro-mini with a salacious tale about Clarkson working as a call girl. Famed forensic scientist and defense expert Dr. Henry Lee was accused of hiding or destroying potentially important evidence. A surprise witness purporting to be the actress' longtime lover promised to blow the case open with testimony about cocaine and guns -- only to be assailed as an impostor.
In the end, none of those witnesses took the stand, and the issues are not expected to arise again.
At the heart of the case are unflattering portraits of the defendant and the woman he is accused of killing. Prosecutors depict Spector as a misogynist who answers romantic rejection by pulling a gun and who once said all women "deserve a bullet in their . . . heads."
The defense is expected to cast Clarkson, 40, as an over-the-hill C-lister whose professional and personal disappointments may have made death an attractive option.
A witness list filed with the court indicates little alteration in the lineup.
"The evidence does not change from trial to trial. The evidence is what we presented in court last time," said Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.
Still expected are a string of women who claim Spector menaced them with guns in the decades leading up to Clarkson's death. One who took the stand for prosecutors last year, Dianne Ogden, died in December.
The judge had not yet decided whether jurors will see a videotape of her testimony. Prosecutors located a sixth woman after the trial, but the judge ruled she could not testify, saying that her allegations were not similar enough to the circumstances of Clarkson's death.
Probable defense witnesses are friends and colleagues of Clarkson's who previously testified the actress was on the edge of a nervous breakdown at the time of the shooting.

Phillip looks like hammered hEll! Sorta looks like he might have had a bit of work done on his face since the last trial. I'd love to be able to watch parts of this trial, but I don't think I want to get into it as much as I did the last one. I swear, it wore me out physically and mentally.
I know he's guilty and I pray that this jury comes back with the right verdict and Lana will finally have the justice she deserves.

I am not watching any re-trial of Phil Spector. The 1st jury deadlocked 10 - 2 Guilty of murder.
The major problem here,as I see it; both Spector and Clarkson were both very 'troubled people' whose lives were slowly going down hill.
Had Clarkson just said "NO" to Spector she would be alive today;and may have made that TV commerical. There was testimony in the 1st trial, that an offer to make a TV commerical was on the table.I believe it was just the first round, discussing the product and structuring the contract as how much she would have been paid.
Clarkson took the bait,'the promise of stardom' and she and Spector took the chauffuered champagne ride to death.
Since both Spector and Clarkson were drunk and handled the gun;was this a murder???.
In my opinion,Specter should plea the case. Accidental shooting death without any prison time;all the negative press now is serveing as his own prison guard.
TRUTV's court programs, follow the same format when they were called COURT TV.Same anchors,to many commerical per hour and chatter from defense attorneys. My best source of Info will come from our website.

I would love to see this case plea bargained. It could still take place;Defense attorneys very often negoiate with the prosecution during a trial;then they speak to the presideing judge hearing the case. The judge questions the defendant,in court, without the jury;satisfied that the defendant accepts the plea bargain as stated;pleads guilty to the said charge. The judge then thanks the jury and dismisses them.Defendant goes off to prison.
Both Spector and Clarkson were drunk and handled the gun.I hate to say this but this 'BUM/JERK:mad:will 'walk'

Jury selection starts for Spector
Phil Spector has always denied murder
Jury selection has begun for the murder retrial of music producer Phil Spector, who is accused of killing actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion five years ago.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul asked the initial group of 18 if they could be fair and impartial.
"What we do not want... is people with an agenda," he said.
Last year's trial ended with the jury deadlocked. Lawyers for Mr Spector claim Ms Clarkson, who was shot, committed suicide.
Mr Spector is charged with second-degree murder, but has always denied he had anything to do Ms Clarkson's death.
He has been free on $1m (£570,000) bail since the incident at his Los Angeles mansion in 2003.
Jury selection is expected to last the rest of the week.

1. She was a hostess,in this upscale restaurant the catered to hollywood's elite.
2.She was unhappy with her life and wanted to be famous. She felt inferior to those about her while working as a hostess.
3. There was a possibility of her making a commerical in the offering, possibility starting the following week. This would have been meetings and discussing contracts.
4.One of the waitress' that served Spector turned him down and said NO,she's alive today.
5. In her desperation for fame, she easily bought into his 'lies' .
6. The limo driver stated that both Spector and Clarkson were drunk when they arrived at the 'castle'
7.There is evidence that both Spector and Clarkson handled the gun;more than likely a heated arguement occured.
I stand by my comment.Clarkson was sober when she made the decision to say YES to Spector's fast track ride to fame. She chose to drink and get drunk in the limo on the way to the castle.
Had she just said NO to Spector, she would be alive today.

PHIL SPECTOR BREAKS HIS SILENCE... (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/3255616/Phil-Spector-breaks-his-silence-over-Lana-Clarkson-murder-trial.html)
He denounced the judge as "a mean son of a bitch who doesn't like me", and insisted: "I was eight feet away from her when she died. It can be proven forensically that I didn't kill her."
The prosecution says otherwise, alleging that the eccentric music legend shot dead Miss Clarkson, a struggling actress and nightclub hostess, at his Los Angeles mansion in February 2003. The defence asserts that Miss Clarkson shot herself.
Spector spoke out in his first television interview for 36 years.
The reclusive star granted unprecedented access to the BBC for the Arena documentary The Agony and the Ecstasy of Phil Spector, in which he also complained bitterly of feeling under-rated by the musical establishment and compared himself to Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and Galileo.
The interview took place at the time of his first trial, which ended in jury deadlock.
"The only thing that concerns me about the jury trial is the verdict. I could get through it like a breeze," he claimed, adding that the murder charge was part of an establishment "vendetta" against him.

Hi TobyTiger
1st thank you for that timely update on Spector. I will try to answer your question.,#5 from my post.
Spector is a man who once enjoy fame, now is a'hasbeen' I remember hearing the testimony that when he dined at the HOUSE of BLUES,he would give a $500.00 tip for a $50.00 tab.
He sized up Clarkson as desperate and probably guessed she was 'starveing for fame;more than likely told her that he had 'connections and could open doors' because he is Phil Spector.Through testimony it also came out he had a poor to bad relationship with women
As it came out through testimony,Clarkson wasn't happy with her life and where it was going. She had over a $30.000.00 debt and couldn't pay her bills, barrowing money from people.
Clarkson was vunerable and desperate at this time and so she was easily taken in by Spector's seduction of the promise of fame.
Of course we will never know what the conversation was between the two parties;but it doesn't take much imagination to guess, connect all the 'DOTS" and look at the facts of this case. Clarkson had been the hostess for some time and Spector dinned their frequently.
If Clarkson was between 18 to 25 years of age,I could have some compassion; do to her inexpierence of what goes on behind Hollywood studios but not a 40 year old woman. She starred in one movie that never made it. Many actors have very short lived fame and soon just fade away.
As always nice talking to you, take care Boscorelli

Jury selected for Phil Spector murder retrial
3 days ago
LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Jury selection was completed Thursday for the murder retrial of legendary music producer Phil Spector, and main arguments in the case will be heard beginning next Wednesday, court sources said.
Spector, the eccentric musical genius who created the famous "Wall of Sound" recording technique, was accused of shooting dead an actress in his Los Angeles mansion five years ago.
He avoided conviction after a marathon, six-month trial last year that ended with a jury deadlocked 10-2 in favor of finding him guilty, and prosecutors decided to launch a new case against him.
The new jury consists of seven men and five women. Six replacement jurors must be chosen before next Wednesday, when the court hears opening statements by the defense and the public prosecutor.
The trial at Los Angeles Superior Court is expected to last between three and four months, and the fabled producer faces a minimum 15 years to life in prison if he is found guilty of second degree murder.
Prosecutors are seeking to convict Spector, 68, of murdering actress Lana Clarkson, who was found dead in the foyer of the fabled producer's home in the early hours of February 3, 2003.
At his first trial, prosecutors alleged that Spector shot Clarkson as she attempted to leave his home after meeting him for the first time only hours earlier at the Hollywood nightclub where she worked.
Defense lawyers said Clarkson, 40, best-known for her role in Roger Corman's 1985 cult classic "The Barbarian Queen" but whose career had stalled at the time of her death, killed herself.
Spector is regarded as one of the most influential figures in pop music history. In the early 1960s he was responsible for hits including "Da Doo Ron Ron," "Be My Baby" and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin.'"
He is famed for his work with The Beatles, Tina Turner, The Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes and The Ramones.

I could get through it like a breeze," he claimed, adding that the murder charge was part of an establishment "vendetta" against him.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/3255616/Phil-Spector-breaks-his-silence-over-Lana-Clarkson-murder-trial.html
The most striking image of Spector during the trial was one of him sitting in the courtroom with a bizarre 'Afro'-style hairdo which measured a foot high.
He explained to interviewer Vikram Jayanti that it was a two-part homage - to Albert Einstein and to Ben Wallace, a US basketball player known for his hairstyles.
"That was a tribute to Ben Wallace and to Albert Einstein. It took four-and-a-half hours to get my hair that way. Ben Wallace was the most valuable defensive player of the year for the Detroit Pistons. I spent a lot of time on it but it photographed beyond my wildest dreams. That day it got a little extreme. For some reason, in a dark setting and with a particular camera angle, it photographed much puffier and bigger than it actually was.
"I didn't mean to be that comical. I meant to have a sense of humour, but I didn't look that way in person. It was the shadows in the background. It puffed up to two or three times its actual size. I don't like the idea that anybody thinks I'm taking this not seriously."

Yes I remember those BIZARRE FOOT TALL wigs? During the 1st trial,he looked like a drowned rat.
Have no desire to watch the re-trial.After it all said an done,I think the jury will again be deadlocked in favor of GUILTY not of murder but an accidental shooting;that is if the judge gives that as a jury charge.
I have stated it before,if Clarkson had only said NOOO to Spector she would be alive today;and who knows, she might have made a TV commerical.

:happy0158: Phil Spector jury chosen for murder retrial :happy0158:
The jury that is set to begin hearing evidence against Phil Spector this week includes panelists with knowledge of guns and suicide, two issues at the heart of the music icon's murder retrial.
According to jury questionnaires made public Monday, six panelists have fired weapons at a gun range or during military service and four keep weapons in their residences.
Spector, 68, is accused in the 2003 fatal shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra mansion. Opening statements are set for Wednesday.
Two jurors indicated negative opinions of gun ownership. One man wrote that the gun owners he knew "express violent behavior." Another juror disclosed membership in a gun control group, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles prosecutor is portraying eccentric musical genius Phil Spector as man who repeatedly threatened women with guns and could become "very sinister, very
violent and very deadly" when he was drunk and confronted with the right circumstances.
Prosecutor Alan Jackson took aim at Spector during his opening statement today in the murder retrial of Spector in the 2003 death of actress Lana Clarkson. Spector is accused of shooting her after she resisted his sexual advances.
In a speech reminiscent of the one he gave at the first trial, Jackson briefly described the killing of Clarkson at Spector's mansion and flashed pictures on a screen showing her in life and death.
One image showed her body slumped in a chair with blood all over her face.
He also recounted the statement of a chauffeur who told of Spector emerging from the house, saying, "'I think I killed somebody."'
However, most of Jackson's opening statement dealt with a long line of women stretching over 30 years whom he said were threatened with death by a gun-wielding Spector

Phil Spector Murder Trial: New hairdo, same arguments
Haven't we seen this show before? Phil Spector strolling into court with a new hair style. Prosecutor Alan Jackson was back in court today trying to convince a jury that Spector killed Lana Clarkson. Jackson, who won praise for his aggressive prosecution last time, seems not to have lost any of his zeal. The Times' Harriet Ryan explains:
"You will be introduced to the real Phillip Spector," Deputy Dist. Atty. Alan Jackson told the Superior Court panel. That man, he said, has "a very rich history of violence" toward women that culminated with the murder of Lana Clarkson in the foyer of his Alhambra mansion. "This is how Phil Spector met Lana Clarkson," the prosecutor said as a glamorous head shot of the smiling blond actress appeared on a projection screen. "This is how he left her," he said as a police photo appeared showing Clarkson sprawled dead in a chair with blood on her mouth and nose. In the crowded spectators' gallery, there was a soft gasp.
Harriet on Spector's fashion statement: His "snowy white tie and pocket square stood out against a long black suit jacket and black shirt." Above: Spector today. Below: Spector's look from the first trial.

Hi Sciencegirl
Thank you very much for your update yesterday:happy0158: As far as this trial is concerned ,I don't care what happens.Lana Clarkson failed to take consequences into consideration before she made that fatal choice and went with Spector;her last ride, chauffuer driven, drinking on the road to death.
Clarkson was no innocent babe in the woods. Her idol was Marilyn Monroe.Celebrity is nothing more than a roller coaster ride. There is no written gaurantee of success ,even more how long will the celebrity status last.
Numerous well know celebrities have understood this and quietly provided income through wise investments;against the day when their celebrity would be replaced with a new face.
Since Marilyn Monroe was Clarkson's idol, why would Monroe commit suicide is being a celebrity was so wonderfull and fullfilling? The answer is very simple, what goes on in the person/private life,is not glamorous, these people use drugs/alcohol to cope with the stress.
Clarkson got what she wanted and lusted after. CELEBRITY, made in a CRIMMINAL COURT.NO scripts no retakes no make up artists;and when it is finished Clarkson will be a small footnote;and Spector will be center stage and in the spotlight again.

Lana was a human being & she & her family deserve justice in a court of law. she did not deserve to be killed by a nut case. so therefor i do care what happens in this trial. I hope they find him guilty & he goes to prison for the rest of his life, which of course due to his age wont be long. he never considered the consequences of his actions all these years so now he must pay.

Juror injury halts testimony in retrial
The first day of testimony in Phil Spector's murder retrial was canceled Thursday after an alternate juror fell in the court parking lot and broke his foot.
Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler said he spoke with the juror, who wanted to get medical attention and return Monday. The trial is not in session on Fridays.
The judge said he was reluctant to lose an alternate juror this early in the retrial for the 68-year-old music producer and would await the man's return. Six alternates were previously selected to be available in case a regular juror has to leave.
The first scheduled witness, retired New York City police Detective Vincent Tannazzo, was in court ready to testify and was ordered to return Monday.
Spector lawyer Doron Weinberg said in his opening statement that he would show Tannazzo "is not who he says he is."
Tannazzo testified at the first murder trial that Spector had been ejected from two Manhattan Christmas parties given in the early 1990s by comedian Joan Rivers after yelling obscenities against women and shouting, "They all deserve a bullet in their heads."
Weinberg called the claim "preposterous" and said the words were never spoken.
The testimony was the subject of pretrial disputes, with the defense claiming the incendiary language attributed to Spector was prejudicial.
Tannazzo is expected to be followed on the stand by Dorothy Melvin, one of Spector's old flames.

Hi BamBam
In reply to your post yesterday,5:38pm.
How can I be 'off base' when the cold blunt facts speak VOLUMES.
1.Clarkson made the choice to go with Spector
2.Clarkson made the choice to get drunk in the car, while on route to the 'castle' This was stated clearly by Limo driver. Both Spector & Clarkson were visably drunk.
3. Clarkson willingly went into the castle with Spector and would die.
Clarkson knew the whole Hollywood scene. There was some testimony in the first trial, where she was seriously considering leaveing Hollywood;but never did.Had she left, she would certainly be alive today
THis is a woman who made poor/bad choices in life.Did anyone ever sit down with her and tried to help to understand that she should look into other fields and get training? Prehaps maybe some did and Clarkson ignored that advice.
No murder is ever justified,in a scenario like this one;but one must look at the FACTS. She brought her own death on herself.
1 accepting the invitation with Spector.
2. Getting drunk.
Had Clarkson stayed SOBER,more than likely, she would have seen through this 'JERK"s' slick talk about stardom and told the Limo driver,to take her home.
We make choices,choices have consequences.

well, bosc..if that's your opinion, so be it...i'm sure there's no changing your mind. you speak as if lana DESERVED to die...from her "poor" choice of going with PS. did you know that her boss told her at work to "treat him like gold" (i believe that was the phrase) because he was such a "valued" customer?? what would be wrong with her going to his house for a couple of drinks...she had no idea to "fear" him...?? and she was hesitant to even go...but hey, why not?? maybe he could provide some tips...some connections at the very least. she had no reason to think otherwise. to paint her as you have is very presumptuous, imo. but oh well....it's YOUR opinion...we know exactly where you stand now! :shrug1:

Lana Clarkson was a human being that did not deserve what happened to her. You put most of the blame on her for being as you say she was star struck and looking for fame, how do you know this? She wanted to pursue an acting career and that is her choice in life not yours to condemn her for it. I would just like to know what your problem is with all of the negativity you continually spout?

right on BLass. Lana was a person trying to succeed in a VERY hard business. She should be commended for sticking to her dreams, not dismissed as someone who brought about her own demise and asked for it. That's just ludicrous and mean. Phil Spector is on trial here as he well should be.
Talk about not ever having to answer to the consequences of his actions! Phil Spector is the poster boy for avoiding consequences of HIS actions, his gun foreplay and HIS history of abusing women. Let's put the blame squarely where it belongs: on the killer.
*sigh* I hate to use the ignore button but sometimes I just have to.

Right on Girl Friend. Lana was a beautiful person and was truly loved by all that knew her, except in the end some of her friends (Punkin') really dissed on her for their five minutes of fame. I am truly disappointed that this trial is not being streamed because I was really wanting to see this nut case get what he deserves. What a day it will be when this jury will hopefully bring in a guilty verdict and justice will finally be served for Lana, her family and all those who truly cared for her.:1222423:

Tannazzo is expected to be followed on the stand by Dorothy Melvin, one of Spector's old flames.

well, bosc..if that's your opinion, so be it...i'm sure there's no changing your mind. you speak as if lana DESERVED to die...from her "poor" choice of going with PS. did you know that her boss told her at work to "treat him like gold" (i believe that was the phrase) because he was such a "valued" customer?? what would be wrong with her going to his house for a couple of drinks...she had no idea to "fear" him...?? and she was hesitant to even go...but hey, why not?? maybe he could provide some tips...some connections at the very least. she had no reason to think otherwise. to paint her as you have is very presumptuous, imo. but oh well....it's YOUR opinion...we know exactly where you stand now! :shrug1:
WOW Bosc, I will not attack your post but I am having a hard time understanding it. How many sober women are in their graves now for following a man? A couple of drinks don't make the average person drunk or at least I don't think she was drunk. Your post sounds like no one should ever dare to meet anyone new. From previous testimony friends of Spector, say he was a gentleman when entertaining them.
Oh well I get from your post Lana should have never breathed. I am glad she was brave and enjoyed life to venture out and taste the good fruits of happiness.
BamBam and Johnielee333 Thanks for the wonderful posts.

AMEN Sistah's!!!! I guess it is only the male breed that is able to network among people in the business to grow their business; or rise in the ranks of their business. And to think; all the networking I did when I was working was unacceptable.
I think someone needs to do some research and find out why the male breed are the #1 killers of women in America. Oh; and they are so in Rape, Burglary, Home Invasion, and pedophilla crimes. We women are merely trying to make our way in this world; unfortunately; moster men sometimes prevent us from doing so.:madranting94dp: You know; men with attitudes like Bosco.

It doesn't matter what Lana did, who she did it with or where she did it, she DID NOT deserve to die at the hands of this wee little monster. To even suggest that she brought this on herself is just appalling to me and makes me very angry. Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

people make bad choice's all the time but that doesnt mean they deserve to be killed by a Psychotic jerk who has done nothing but put fear in women. sure, what if she did this or what if she did that. what IF's doesnt matter. what matters is a woman was killed & the person that killed her needs to pay for it. the fact is, she was killed by his threating ways as he always was threating women with guns & he should not be on the streets anymore. he should of been locked up years ago. this so called man is mental & should be locked up for killing a woman. i cant believe someone can sit here & blame the victim. its like someone putting the blame on the victim who was raped, saying it was her fault. i just dont have any understanding of that. it makes me sick.
Justice for Lana ! :1222423:

Hello everyone,
As you know I attended opening statements. I am working on a detailed entry covering the whole day. It may take a while, since I filled up an entire spiral notebook with notes; about 100 pages. I will try to have it finished by late Sunday evening but I may not get it completely done and edited until Wednesday.

Thank you for your reply and explanation...
I do agree completely with your assessment of Spector.

She brought her own death on herself.1 accepting the invitation with Spector.
2. Getting drunk.
Had Clarkson stayed SOBER,more than likely, she would have seen through this 'JERK"s' slick talk about stardom and told the Limo driver,to take her home.
We make choices,choices have consequences.

jeeez.. i was just passing thru and happened to read your post one more time. actually...i read over it several times...as i find it completely unbelievable. the more i read it, the more surreal it becomes. mind-blowing, really.
i just felt compelled to reply once again.... (not that it will do any good)
so you say....
1.Clarkson made the choice to go with Spector--
yes she did. so what? and why not? she had been told by her employers that he was a famous music producer...and to "treat him like gold".... it's tough in hollywood...how else can you make contacts...if you never "make contact"??? she had no reason to fear him. she had no idea who he was until that night. she learned he was a regular there...nobody gave her any dire warnings about this man. (too bad none of the other women that PS threatened with guns weren't there to warn her, huh?)
2.Clarkson made the choice to get drunk in the car, while on route to the 'castle' This was stated clearly by Limo driver. Both Spector & Clarkson were visably drunk---
she had just gotten off work where she had drank NOTHING--- i seriously doubt she managed to get drunk during the drive to the castle. just being realistic here.
3. Clarkson willingly went into the castle with Spector and would die...
yes she did go willingly. and yes...she "would die" at the hands of phil spector....the odds were in his favor that THIS time his gun antics with the ladies would go too far and have tragic consequences.
lana clarkson did nothing wrong. she had no reason to suspect there was a monster lurking within spector. i'm sure she assumed him to be a decent human being. and why wouldn't she? her big mistake, in the eyes of phil spector anyway...was that she was ready to GO...she wanted to leave.....
and you say for her "poor choices" she brought her death onto herself???????? do you really believe that???
the only person i see that made "poor choices" was PHIL SPECTOR....
when he decided to not allow the woman to leave.....when he decided to pull a gun out and start threatening her....
i'm truly amazed that you have the gall to bash this victim. you didn't know her. you have been presumptuous in the extreme, imo. i certainly don't understand it and i don't believe anyone else here does either.
