Gee, I guess Mark Geragos didn't instill much faith in him, as his attorney. :0009:

By Melissa MacBrideLOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Japanese businessman accused of conspiring to have his wife murdered, has committed suicide in a Los Angeles jail cell. It was a deadly ending to a story that has made headlines in L.A., and half way around the world, for the past 27 years.
Kazuyoshi Miura, 61, arrived in Los Angeles on Friday to face conspiracy charges. Over 100 Japanese press members also arrived to cover the case, which, in Japan, was considered bigger than the O.J. Simpson case.
Miura was extradited to the United States on Friday to faces charges of plotting to kill his wife 27 years ago.
The Japanese businessman was booked at Parker Center early Friday morning. And, less than 14 hours later, police say he took his own life.
Story continues belowAdvertisement"It was apparent that the murder suspect, alone in his cell, had used a piece of his shirt as a makeshift ligature around his neck," said Detective Charlie Beck, Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD says detention officers did a routine check at about 10:35 on Friday night, then 10 minutes later, a detention officer walked by Miura's cell, saw what he had done, and then made the call for help.
Miura was not on suicide watch. Police say they had no reason to believe he needed constant monitoring.
"He had visitors from the consulate, he had discussions with his attorney and things appeared to be normal," said Det. Beck. (More at link)

One of the commentors stated he likely committed suicide because he had dishonored his family. I disagree with that. I think he did it because he knew his freedom was gone and he didn't want to go to prison. If he'd done it because he'd dishonored his family then he have killed himself back when he was found guilty of murder in Japan. IMO

Betcha Los Angelos' authorities wish he's killed himself in Japan and saved them the trouble they were put through to bring him to California.

Hi Alibar
Have to agree with you 100%:happy0158: Yes he should have committed suicide in Japan;but look at the 'flip side' A one way flight from Japan to the U.S.and a fast trip into a jail cell. How many people do that???
I also agree with TigressPen about this idea of 'dishonoring his family'.He wasn't going to spend time in prison so he opted out;but he did spend several hours in a holding cell; a 'cram course of what his future would hold.

I only know the little I have read, but it suggests guilt to me, but I can also see the dishonour angle.

At least he has been good enough to save the taxpayers a fortune!!!!

Well he really didn't save the taxpayers money;after all he was a 'guest' in the county jail.

Japan jails are much worse then US jails, at least from what I see on documentaries and such.

I don't get why he chose the US to take his life.

Yes, I understand about the dishonor but why do it in the US???

Hi Livelaughluv
The only reason I can come up with is;to create a newsworthy story involveing both countries;this way his name will be remembered.A small foot note.
