Missing man drowned in Butler Lake

By Staci Wilson 03/25/2009

A man missing since October was found dead about 200 yards from his Jackson township home on Saturday morning

The body of Phillip Page Sr., 30, was discovered in Butler Lake by searchers at about 9:50 a.m., March 21.

Susquehanna County Coroner Anthony Conarton said the body was identifiable. An autopsy revealed cold water drowning to be the cause of death. The death was ruled accidental.

Pennsylvania State Police convened the weekend search with help from area fire departments, community volunteers and friends and family members. Trp. Greg Deck headed the investigation.

Page, 30, walked away from his house Oct. 25 reportedly wearing only a tee-shirt, sweatpants and no shoes. He was last seen in his backyard.
Heavy rains that night, followed by an early season snow three days later week hampered search efforts.

During the 72-plus hour October search, hundreds of search and rescue volunteers including law enforcement, emergency personnel, dive teams, Civil Air patrol and missing persons scent dogs scoured the area in search of Page.
