Gramma, I'm sorry your sister is going thru medical problems, but I'm sending healing thoughts your way.

FM, I can add my voice to verify hypnotism is real. Of course I have no way of knowing if you were hypnotized or not... it sure sounds as if you were... but I used to work with the head of the Sociology Dept. at college giving demonstrations. Like Stacey said, you're aware you're just not in control. The example I've given is when I could see Dr. T. slipping a sewing needle in my arm but since I'd been "told" that I couldn't feel it, ...I didn't.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts....I am having a rough day....didnt sleep much. We have not had a good relationship (my choice) and now feeling really guilty......but that a whole nother story.

As I said, it is not looking good. They did a scope and she has growths on two lymph nodes, sore throat for three months, she kept telling DR., but they passed it off as acid reflux. They are doing a PET scan today to see how far it has spread. They wanted to do a spiration (sp) of the growths but were afraid it would spread it. She also said her left ear has been painful and they saw something there too.

Good Morning everybody!

A sewing needle in your arm? :thud2:

What about like on TV, when they take people back in time to remember something? Does that really work?

If you mean to a past life, I never experienced that. If you mean back in time in your OWN life.... absolutely.

I remember one demo where Dr. T. regressed me to age 4 and asked me who the president was (what 4 YO knows the president's name?). Well, I didn't either but I told him that my "Daddy says says daughter needs more singing lessons."

I later looked it up and it was Harry Truman and his daughter Margaret sang -- but daddy said she 'screeched'.

I think the thing that sold me was early on in our demos, Dr. T had be go to the blackboard (yes we still used chalk in the 'olden days'). He had me write my name. Then he progressively regressed me in age and had me write my name.

Think back... remember the different stages your signature went through? (Oh how embarrassing it was to see my 8th-9th grade signature with all the curlicues and extra strokes.) They were all there. All the way back to when I was learning to print.

That was really strange, there I stood at the blackboard, I KNEW I was 19 or so but I was incapable of cursive writing.

Like the time we were working and Dr T "told" me that we were alone in the room, just the two of us and I could only hear the sound of his voice, then he motioned for another student to pick up a book from the desk and flip through it. He asked me what I saw and I said, "the book is floating".

The really neat part of being his subject in these demos was that he'd always, just before he'd bring me out give me the post hypnotic suggestion that when I came out from under I'd be completely rested and relaxed (I'm assuming it can be exhausting to the subject -- but Stacey will know more about that) and that I'd feel like I just had a bracing massage and a brisk shower.

Boy! I felt great!

I wonder if I could find him now, I sure could use that feeling.....

PatC
11-20-2008, 10:59 AM
F~M, I need to add, that the hypnotist need to be well trained and ethical. When you mentioned "like on TV....". The hypnotist could very easily "suggest" memories and the subject would absolutely believe they were their own memories. So those sessions should be carefully monitored and definitely recorded to ensure no seeds were planted in the minds of the subject.

Little things could be a problem. I'd think the questions would have to be very very general prompts. Like, "What time of day or night is it?" rather than "How late is it?" or "What is the weather like?" instead of "Is it raining?"

Very much like the problems that arose when those kids all supposedly reported being abused and witnessed cult activities at that day care center years ago only to later have it turn out it was the leading questioning that brought it all out.

Oh, and that boy who confessed to killing his sister, was it? They made a movie about that one. Makes me wonder about that 8 YO that "confessed" to shooting his dad and another man the other day.

Those are very good points pat, because contrary to popular belief... hypnosis is brought on by extreme stress - but its mental stress. we active your flight or fight response, and give so many suggestions to your mind so quickly, that you retreat into your head. Watch a session....
sit back - relax- close your eyes- look at me, unfold your legs. listen to my voice. etc etc. People (MOST PEOPLE) want to comply and please.... so we overload them, lol. But it works.

Anyone know how to convert a WAV file to s format that i can post here? i want you guys to see some of this stuff.

I have a video of shock induction (used in emergencys) and it works like a charm. you never use it in practice though, only for demonstration.

I thought WAV files were sound/audio files.... they're videos? Who Knew:smiley_aasg:

I guess that makes it clear I can't help you, doesn't it.

Gotta run folks, I'll be back after class. Y'all be good. There's an "all seeing eye" around watching you.

WOW! That is really interesting! And yes, that's what I was talking about - back to a younger age, not a past life. Not sure that I believe in past lives.

Thanks! :kissyface4:

I'm having funny feeling about that 8 year old too.

YAY!! It's Thursday. 1 and half more days til the weekend! Of course the weekend that hubby is making me get out and do something it's pouring down rain. We'll probably be sitting in the theatre all weekend! Good.. I have lots of movies I wanna see.
I wanted to run up to the cemetery to take pics of the new Irish Cross they put in. In the background sits a great tree that is bright red and orange. Crossing fingers it stops raining and dries out for the weekend!!

I have a meeting tonight. What was I thinking agreeing to go for the head person??? Oh well I'm in a mood and will probably put my few cents in.

you should go read the thread, FM - i went OFF on a tirade last night, lol. There is so much info that people arent addressing. Like the fact that the kid said she shot them both twice and they were each shot FOUR times. And IF he made those shots with a 3 inch window (between the hard hat and the chin) he would be considered and expert marksman.

There is incompetance and corruption galore in the little town amoungst LE. I know, my step cousin is a cop there - after being fired as LE down here for taking bribes and stealing.

I could go on, but i think i said enough last night, lol!!

I'm going to look for that. The sad thing is, from what I saw on the news of the recorded session with the deputies questioning him, his "confession" will for all time (in my mind) be tainted by the way he was questioned. He might be a complete sociopath and have cold bloodedly killed two men, but IMO we won't know until and unless he goes on to do the same thing again.

It's a shame because skillful questioning might have told us what really happened without any questions left over.

All you bird owners, present and past will appreciate this story:

When my son was in college a girl gave him a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the birds mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. Although my son wasn't particularly shocked he was concerned about what the bird might say when he had company.

He tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only
polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Eventually he got fed up and yelled at the parrot. The bird yelled back. As much as I hate to admit it, he shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. Finally, one weekend when DH and I were away they had a confrontation and, in desperation, my son threw up his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in my freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not A peep, was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd really hurt the parrot, my son quickly opened the door to
the freezer. To my son's amazement, the parrot calmly stepped out onto my son's outstretched arm and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

My son was naturally stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. Just as he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued,

Hi. Where do yall get those cute avatars?

Hi gabby. You can go to www.photobucket.com and type in something that you like. It'll pull up all sorts of avatars or pics.

Like this one I have. It was a big picture, but I resized it to this size so I could use it.

If I can help you with anything, just let me know.

ok all, i have been sitting here for hours trying to upload a video to you tube or change its format. Im going to try this direct link. I HOPE it works.

This is my instructor, Michelle. This is an actual class and regression. Its long, but pretty amazing. If this works, i have more to share.

The regression starts at 24 min. 44 seconds. Let it load then fast forward there.

Stacey, that was fascinating. Thanks for posting it. Did I imagine it or at about 36 min. when the camera panned the audience did I see a woman in the back who appeared to also be under?

I think that sometimes happens when a group watches a hypnotism, someone in the audience who is particularly suggestible can go under too.

That 'confession' is for sure going to be thrown out of court.

I have serious doubts about whether that child shot his dad and his dad's friend. You are right along with our other Klatchers, LA! Violates so many rules it is a scandal; including that it is unethical to publish any 'confession' or 'statement' of a defendant prior to trial.

Well, I would like to Grins but my Mom passed away last year. How the conversation came about was that we have a cousin that was a police officer and we referred to him as "Barney Fife" because when he would show up in his uniform he was Barney personified - Hilarious! We had a visit with him one Sunday afternoon and after he left we proceeded to talk about how funny Don Knotts was on the Andy Griffith show and Mother told us that she used to watch him on the soaps. No way....we were believing that but she said that he truly was and from what I gathered he played a straight role, not the funny, jittery icon he became. I would love to see some of those old episodes wouldn't you?

I don't eat eggs (allergic to them), but that looks GOOD!

It's turning cold down here. Hubby had a great idea. He asked me to make sausage gravy with home made biscuits tonight for supper. We haven't had it in ages.

I can't wait! :happy0158:

Pat, did you watch the lady towards the end of the hypnosis tape?? what do you think?

Yes, I watched the whole thing. She SEEMED to be under, the only thing that would make me think twice is that her voice stayed pretty loud, and from my experience people who were age regressed to childhood sounded more .... "childish" if you know what I mean.

I was very impressed with the instructor. I liked her technique and her voice. Did you ever have her as a teacher in person or only on video?

Random Thoughts

Skinny people irritate me! Especially when
they say things like, "You know sometimes I just
forget to eat." Now I've forgotten my address,
my mother's maiden name, and my keys.
But I've never forgotten to eat. You have to be a
special kind of stupid to forget to eat.

A friend of mine confused her valium with her
birth control pills. She had 14 kids, but she
doesn't really care.

They keep telling us to get in touch with our
bodies. Mine isn't all that communicative but I
heard from it the other day after I said, "Body,
how'd you like to go to the six o'clock class in
vigorous toning?" Clear as a bell my body said,
"listen witch... do it and die."

The trouble with some women is that they get all
excited about nothing (and then they marry him.)

I read this article that said the typical symptoms
of stress are eating too much, smoking too
much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are
they kidding? That is my idea of a perfect day.

I know what Victoria's Secret is. The secret is
that nobody older than 30 can fit into their stuff.

"If men can run the world, why can't they stop
wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start
the day by tying a noose around your neck?"

That would be fine. DH's mother (and now he does it) first sauted some diced onions, added the can contents, blended well then stirred in mashed potatoes.

It smells good, it even tastes good -- if you can bet past the appearance -- but it LOOKS like it's already been eaten at least once!!

I had her for both. I took the video class, that i can now share with you since the links work. Then i went to cali and took her classes, as well as others. She jokes that she was Cleopatra in a past life, lol. In the first video she does a group hypnosis that you can try at the computer. she does the whole room.

Im talking about the woman that becomes "Dr Peebles". Is that on the video. THATS the one that has me stumped. As far out as it seems, i just cant imagine any one faking like that.

The other girl, i believe is legit. I have seen peoples voices change, and even develope an accent sometimes. not all the time. sometimes they become passive when they are a strong personality, and vise versa.

I just hung up the phone with my daughter. She's coming to visit us Thanksgiving weekend. I told her what her dad and I were having for supper and she just moaned.

She said "Mom, do you realize I haven't had any real food since the last time I came to see y'all?" :67302:

That makes me feel good. She's been living on her own since August. I've always cooked good meals and she would turn her nose up at them. Now I see she misses them! :zm10:

Oh, cheesy eggs are DH's fav too.... especially with the smoke flavored cheese.

Do you know I can't even FIND Canadian bacon down here? I hadn't given it a thought one way or the other in years but I had a recipe for something that called for it and I went looking.... not to be found here. Maybe in a bigger town.

For the record, I ain't ashamed of hating grits one whit. Ya gotta remember I grew up in Oklahoma where the wind was whistling across the plains and if I wanted something that tasted like those grits you're so proud of I could just take my oatmeal out in the yard to eat it and let the blowing sand deposit some "grit".

Yep, yep, ......to each his/HER own, right??? :shrug1:

Well, maybe I didn't see it all. I thought I did. Is it over an hour long? I quit when they finished with the PLR and took a break, it was at about the hour mark and it looked like it was shutting down. Do I need to go back and see more of the tape?

What a funny and touching story Lass. Thank you. It is sad about your Mother and I grieve with you. Tell us about her. I always like to visualize a person and hear from a son or daughter some "Dad and Mom Stories."
I have posted some too.

Don Knotts next appeared on the Steve Allen show as a nervous shaky guy.
"I understand you are an explosives expert. Are you nervous?'

"[shaking] NO!"

"Allen also provided a nationwide audience for his famous "man on the street" comics, such as Pat Harrington, Jr.; Don Knotts; Louis Nye; Bill Dana; Dayton Allen; and Tom Poston. All were relatively obscure performers prior to their stints with Allen, and all went on to stardom."

I've seen that routine!!!!!

Reminds me.... years ago DH worked as an explosives technician taking down abandoned rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. Before they went out they'd build the charges they thought they'd need, but "best laid plans...."

They'd get out their and have to make some "on site" modifications. So there's DH pounding away on this charge to break it up and add it's explosives to another .... some of the rig workers would get nervous (imagine that???) "Is that really safe?", they'd ask. DH would answer, "Sure, but if you see me running ----- keep up!"
