I cannot believe no one on this board wished to discuss this live trial..So much to chew on??!! Forensics..timeline..testimoney's..police officer being tried..Yikes..cant understand the lack of discussion here...

Anyway..The jury is out and deliberating (BTW.. jury is sequestered.thus long court days..some 13 hours a day) and yikes over 70 witnesses..WOW..fast moving..and so much info to process..not to mention this is a retrial..as original conviction was overturned due to hearsay evidence that was allowed in original trial.

Hello..anyone else in verdict watch???.:zm1::shrug1::faintTHUD:

My client didn’t beat this man or murder this man, he had sex with this man,” Leonard said. “There is no evidence of this crime at all. They have found evidence of sex.”

Taken from this link...first..there was no beating..only a choke hold rendering victum unconscious..then stab wound.....something a knowledgeable police oficer might be able to accomplish....Timeline..very open..as Rios wherabouts have not been confirmed until 456AM..or there abouts..Rios was nown to visit Jesse before he ended his shift..arriving unannounced or unexpectedly...also sop cars were an everyday observation in that community..could it be???Rios did his deed before returniing to the station..showering..changing clothes..ditchin knife..and anything he thought was INCULPITORY???Hummmmmm wonder??

Second degree IMO is when you kill without planning it, IMO he planned it and it should be first degree.:doh: Well at least he is off the streets.

I just cannot believe Jamie Floyd's guest who just stated that Rios was thought guilty even prior to stepping into that courtroom..Based on his closeted gayness..Geesh..how narrow minded..fits right in with Jamie eh?...I think it is obvious that Rios used his position to take advantage of peole..men and women alike..as it has come out after this verdict...Rios had DNA under fingers nail of Jesse..should have never been there..DNA just doesnt last that long ( some 6-7 days) especially after 6-7 days of contacts Jesse had ..why not many others.....!!
As to the timeline..I have just a gut feeling that Rios might have done this before he ever returned to the Station..where he cleaned up and changed his clothes..to creeate an alibie...But that is just my thought on timeline..

I followed this trial.In my opinon he should have been found guilty of 1st degree murder.But thankfully the jury found him guilty of 2nd degree murder.He will do at least 50 years;and being a former cop life behind bars will be tough.
So now the 2nd trial came out with a guilty verdict.According to Banfield and Ford program ,the defense will appeal.I hope and paray he is not going to be granted a 3rd trial.

for once Boscorelli we agree. I think a cop who takes advantage of his power...and who likely became a cop to achieve that authority...ought to be held to a higher standard.

This was premeditated and organized. An organized killer; his behavior after the fact condemned him. He will have a hell of a life behind bars here in Missouri, and I mean that most literally.

You and I agree on this RIOS case because of the FACTS presented in the Prosecution's case in chief.
Rios will have it far more difficult time in prison,just because he was a former cop.
This is the 2nd well known case,that I am aware of ;where a cop 'crossed the line'.The other case was in Calif.
A highly decorated Highway patrol officer would pull over a woman,tell her to drive her car to a desserted spot and then rape her. He was finally caught because one of his female victums escaped and spoke to the police;which led to his conviction and now LWOP

There was a highway patrolman in Florida who did the same thing...ended up killing one of his victims. I hope he's paying and paying big time.
