A little reminder for here....
This forum is on the front page and is open to public, which also means kids can be viewing here. It's also a spot to welcome new members.... this is not a private board where anything goes. Please remember that when you post.. and please do not post semi-nude photos... that is not acceptable here. I have been so busy lately that I have not been able to get on some threads to check them out... People are getting a bit too carried away in here. Sorry, but that is not the image we want to have here. . This is partly my fault for neglecting some things and letting them get out of hand. You have the romper room for play and kidding around.. but nowhere on the board is it acceptable to post some of the photos I have seen.
Thanks,
Pauli

I never thought about it before, but I think I've lived in this house the longest of anyplace I've ever lived. 1989 - now. Almost 20 years. Wow. It'd probably take me at least 10 years to get ready to move out.... unless we did what DH says. He swears that if we ever have to move out of here he's going to pack me and the dogs and whatever will fit in our cars and move off and leave everything else behind. LOL
There's a certain logic to that now that I think of it. There are a couple of boxes out in the utility room I'd like to look in before we left them behind though. I musta thought they were important.... I moved them here, didn't I?

Roamer you reminded me of the days when I had horses and DH would do the morning work, and I hated it when I had to get out there on the cold days if he had to leave early. UGH! We use to have to wrap the pipes in warming electrical tape to keep the pipes from freezing, and the horses, would eat it, then it was trouble!! :yes2: I'm glad those days are overrrrrrrrrrrr LOL

Well somehow ours found the wrapping, and chewed it off! :0009: That wasn't so bad, the worse part was when I was at work and a neighbor would call me to tell me my horse was OUT and runnning around the hill. :duh: Thank goodness I worked close to home and I could come home and catch him. :yes2: When I would walk up to him, he would run away, but if I put some string around the trees where he was standing, I could walk up to him and get him. :s1gyahoo: Oh those were the days! :s1gyahoo:

I guess I could spare a degree or two. It was down to freezing overnight but it's getting warmer now -- up to 50* and forecast of 58* for today with an overnight tonight of 36*.
By Tuesday it's supposed to get into the low 70s again (but with rain).

I've got two ticked off horses. DH always feeds them in the morning at 5 before he leaves for work. He's gone to KY for his sister's funeral, and I forgot them until 7:15. Boy, you should have heard them grumbling at me when I went out there. :groan:
Maybe you should take them some warm oats to make up for it. :0t13:
Hey everybody :howdy:
It's gorgeous here today. Our high is 64.
Christmas parade is tonight. It's supposed to be some big shin dig downtown where the Mayor lights everything just before the parade. Supposed to have all types of vendors and such. It's our first Christmas here, so we'll probably check it out.

Never been on a sleigh ride. I grew up in Florida, and we had lots of hayrides.
lol.. I have to tell you a funny one about sleigh rides..
We had a team of ponies, it was almost Christmas time, snow on the ground..
My dad gets a Santa suit, hitches up ponies to sleigh, bells on the ponies and we take off.. It wasn't too cold out, nice day really. We go about 8 miles or so, on the other side of the little town we lived in. By the time we start to head back home the sun is out, snow is melting on the roads. By the time we get to town snow is all melted... So my dad pulls up in front of the local tavern, leaves me and the dog outside to watch the ponies while he goes in the tavern to call my mom to bring the truck and horse trailer. He gets inside and starts talking and forgets to call her.. and forgets that I am outside with the ponies and dog.
So here me, the dog and ponies are parked outside the tavern in the middle of town when my mother happens to drive by... talk about one po'd Indian.. haha.. she was on the warpath with my dad.. I was about 10 yrs old :girl_haha:

Lass, is it foggy? Rainy? What?
Most days (especially in Winter) there is fog, rain, (sleet and snow is rare down South, but we've had a tiny bit of sleet), sun...British weather is really predictable...in the way that you are likely to get a bit of everything...especially rain...I try to be grateful for the rain giving us a green and pleasant land, but truth is...I HATE RAIN!
Plus damp weather is AWFUL for aches and pains...

I second that advise Ali, I used generic Wal-mart brand Naproxen for my arthritis. My ankles were aching with the cold today, so I put on a pair of nice thick socks, took my naproxen and now I'm comfortable again.

LOL... my educated guess. Her mother is Caucasian and her dad is nearly all Cherokee, but, not 100%, so I figure Isabella is one third, but, maybe she's 3/7th, or something like that. :a1chic: Parents may say half... I don't know. In this part of Oklahoma most who have lived here for long are part Cherokee. I feel like an outsider.:frustratedf: They live in Tahlequah and met at the university when both were finishing their masters.
By the way, I made a post to you in the Arcade thread... )))))))

Oh, I agree that there are varying percentages... I'm part Cherokee too. My great grandfather was a US Marshall in Oklahoma Territory and he was half Cherokee, his wife was part Cherokee too. The other side of my family (my dad's) moved to Oklahoma from Texas, also before statehood, and although they didn't talk about it as much, they were part Indian... and I don't know for sure, but I think they were from the Apaches.
I just couldn't picture how you can have any fraction other than a fraction divisible by 2, e.g., 1/2, 1/4, 1/16, 1/32, but I haven't really worked it out. "One third" sounded funny to me ... like three people's DNA contributed to the person, not two.

I wondered the same thing. I guess it could be pink grapefruit juice, but I think I've seen something similar on one of the cooking shows. Maybe one of those "theme" cocktails that Sandra Lee comes up with.
Maybe some kind of champagne cocktail.... maybe a "Tickled Pink"
"The Tickled Pink cocktail is a perfect Champagne drink for any romantic occasion and will wow your Valentine year round. This bubbly drink is a fruity mixture of your favorite Champagne and X-Rated Fusion Liqueur and is one of the easiest drinks to make."
I know, I never heard of "X-Rated Fusion Liqueur " but: LOOK HERE (http://cocktails.about.com/od/spiritreviews/gr/xrated_review.htm)

Good morning Gram and OC. I don't do snow. I've never lived anywhere that snow was the "norm" in winter.
I grew up in SE Oklahoma and we'd get snow about every 3rd winter... LOL... and it'd last a couple of days. I've been here in S. Mississippi now since 1973 and I think I remember it snowing three times.
OC, are you going to visit in FL or are you moving there?
I seem to recall your saying you were going for the Christmas holidays but I may be having you mixed up with someone else.
Gram, I can't imagine your winters. I've never even BEEN to NH in ANY season, but I picture a winter like the old Bing Crosby movie, "White Christmas".
Seems picturesque but I'm sure the reality of it is quite different. I can picture myself bundled up enough to go outdoors and I see myself looking a lot like that little kid in the South Park cartoon. As short as I am I'd be darn near round, if I ever slipped and fell I'd prolly roll down the hill. :67302:

PatC, I have never known anything but snow, with the exception of being born in San Diego, but was only a babe there. Seems that might have been the place to stay, as SD has perfect weather.
We are going to FL for the holidays, even tho we have a place there, I doubt we would ever pack up and move there. Weren't they sweet? :love0081: We ususally spend the holiday there and I am usually there all of May and November, but since I was sick this year, I haven't been there since last New Years. Then, about an hour later, it happened again, but this one only about five minutes worth. Dang, I don't know what those were, but they hurt!!!
I'm so glad Sarge is better now.
When Romy was little he always ate too much and got tummy aches, so I'd rub it until he went to sleep.
I'd lots rather be up with my dogs than for me. I never get mad at them.
Roamer.. you need to get your potassium checked. (I know, I'm bossy). Especially if you're on a diuretic.
I was actually awake too.. I have insomnia really bad lately. So, it wasn't that big a deal, other than it was cold and I had on pajamas and flip flops. LOL

I take a potassium pill every night, F~M. Been on them for a few months now. And there's a diuretic in one of my BP meds.
Can it be from me not drinking enough fluids? I've tried to cut down because the diuretic makes me pee all the time anyway.

Yep.. it can. You need to be drinking. If the diuretic is making you urinate a lot, then it's doing it's job. Keep yourself hydrated.
If you've been on potassium a few months, it's time to get your level checked. Tell the nurse, she can draw it. :friends3:

Hey everybody :howdy:
It's gorgeous here today. Our high is 64.
Christmas parade is tonight. It's supposed to be some big shin dig downtown where the Mayor lights everything just before the parade. Supposed to have all types of vendors and such. It's our first Christmas here, so we'll probably check it out.
We had our parade before Thanksgiving. Christmas city Of The North, it's called. My BIL always brings Santa in one of his carriages. He has a carriage service that runs all summer in canal Park and he does weddings and such.
It's 10 degrees here.
I'm glad you knew it, chefann. I'm lucky to remember Central/Eastern/Pacific time, let alone London time. :67302:
I'm central time. I think London is five hours ahead? I want to say that due to Princess Diana, and having to figure out times so I could watch the wedding and funeral. I'm not positive though.
:0t31:
My BIL has been toying with getting a couple of sleighs and starting that business along with his carriage business. I think that would be cool!

Sounds like what we call a charlie horse. I don't know why we call it that but they hurt something awful! My mom gets them often and they've tried everything. potassium etc... Maybe some people are just prone to them?
I get them once in a great while. I have a lot in my feet for no reason at all. Sometimes I think I get them because of the anxiety and I just hold my muscles too tight.
I'm shocked I didn't have any last night. I was on a marathon shopping spree yesterday with Jess. We were on the go from 8 until after 4 and my fat butt ain't used to that! My feet hurt so bad it was unreal. I soaked in the tub when I got home but I'm sore today from all that walking and hauling packages etc...
I have trouble with my sciatic nerve when walking a lot too. Weight doesn't help but it's mainly an old injury from a car accident. The entire left side is out of whack and I've got arthritis in my neck from it.
Central time is currently 6hrs behind us...and our clocks went back about 6 wks ago, so I guess for some of the time there is 7hrs difference...
Okay, I was an hour off. We do daylight savings as well but they changed it last year, so I'm not sure if we change at the same time or not. :waitasec:

I thought it was only a charley horse in the calf of your leg, Tam? I've had those, but it's been awhile.
OK, F~M, I'll drink more, only because I trust you.
I still don't know what time it is where, but that's ok because I'm only here. Oh, dear....I'm starting to sound like Grins. :girl_haha:

Poor Sarge. What are you feeding the poor sweetie? I bet he'd be glad to cuddle with you while you nap.:kissyface4:

I googled and found that it's any cramp in the legs. Still not sure where the term came from though.

And yeah, potassium is the treatment but it doesn't get rid of them for my mom.

Yes, I got a new puppy!!!! :basic44: I got her yesterday, the uncle of one of the kids I babysit had a littler of Chihuahua pups, so I dragged Tim over there to look at them. After about 2 hours of me sitting on the floor with them, he caved & bought me the little girl in the pic. She's teeny tiny & black... SO cute!!! Last night I set the crate up for her in my room, made it all comfy cozy & put her in. Of course, she cried & cried. My son comes in, half asleep & takes her out of the crate & right into bed with him. I have to say, it was pretty darn cute when I went to check on her a little later & they were all curled up together asleep.
Oh... and she has no name yet. I have a list of names I like & the boys hate them all. Buttheads. I have Gracie, Annabelle, Isabella, and Phoebe. Any suggestions? I really like to give my female animals people names.

Thank you, Packy! I love her to pieces. I have never been without a Chihuahua since I was 20 years old. My SO kept saying 'no more Chihuahuas' but I knew if I got him over there, he'd cave. I have been hanging all over Chloe since we brought the puppy home yesterday. I feel guilty bringing another dog into the house, I feel like Chloe is going to feel like she's being replaced or something! She has never been the only dog, not until we lost Spike in September. I have never deliberately gone out and sought a chihuahua, but they keep "finding" me. I have had Boston Terriers all my life. My first chihuahua adopted me after his owner died. I was dating the owners son, and the chihuahua let my boyfriend know that he preferred me, so I took him home. The second one became mine when the young woman I was trying to help back on track (drug addiction) went over the edge and left the dog with me. He was already very old. The third (and present one) actually started coming through my Boston's doggie door every time it rained. I would dry him off and call the owners. He soon adopted me, and they gave up and quit coming after him (who leaves a chihuahua out in a rainstorm anyway?). So, I became a Boston Terrier/Chihuahua person....and the combination is hiarious.

Awwww, you're a good person to keep taking in the wayward Chihuahuas!!! This is my 3rd Chi, I just love them. I love Bostons, too... they are SO funny! There was a Boston & a Boxer that used to escape from their house & always showed up at mine. I'd let them in, they'd make themselves comfy on my bed & patiently wait for their mom to come pick them up. They were the cutest pair - they just came in my house & acted like they owned it! I was always happy when their mom didn't answer the phone when I called - that meant they would get to hang out for a while!

I almost always name my pets with people names too or people nicknames. For such a tiny dog, she'll need a diminutive name for sure. Also the ending syllable being an "ie" or "a" sound seems to go with tiny.
Abby, Katy, Juana, Jodi or Joni? Then there's always Guadalupe and you could sorten it to "Lupe" :girl_haha:

I have a cat named Abigail & we call her "Abby". I'll throw your suggestions at them & see what they say. I shouldn't worry about it, they're just dumb boys - what do they know about girly names???

Can't wait to see what she comes up with!
I have been hanging all over Chloe since we brought the puppy home yesterday. I feel guilty bringing another dog into the house, I feel like Chloe is going to feel like she's being replaced or something! She has never been the only dog, not until we lost Spike in September. She probably doesn't think much of it, but I worry! I told her last night that she's still #1 & always will be. Too bad she can't understand what I'm telling her! :girl_haha:

I've never had either a Boston or a Chihuahua. I usually had big dogs. My mom raised German Shephards (very small scale -- no puppy mill there -- it'd have been hard to expand too much when her female was so spoiled and such a "mama's girl" that when she went in labor she tried to climb in Mama's lap -- all 95 pounds of her (the dog, not Mama) but I digress).
I've always thought from just looking at them that a Boston would come with an attitude. LOL Do they?
Awwww, you're a good person to keep taking in the wayward Chihuahuas!!! This is my 3rd Chi, I just love them. I love Bostons, too... they are SO funny! There was a Boston & a Boxer that used to escape from their house & always showed up at mine. I'd let them in, they'd make themselves comfy on my bed & patiently wait for their mom to come pick them up. They were the cutest pair - they just came in my house & acted like they owned it! I was always happy when their mom didn't answer the phone when I called - that meant they would get to hang out for a while!
:11_2_104: Truly a "doggie person" -- no wonder I love you. :kissyface4:
