Looks like they may eventually have a population explosion.

As I got into the article, one girl said she was able to buy a house with her money. Appears its a money maker for the country, but I couldn't do it because I would not be able to give the child up.

I just skimmed the article. Are they impregnated by the sperm of the male half of the couple who will be adopting? If not, does the adopting couple get info about the father? Health history, and all that? I did notice that these pregnant young women are all pampered and well taken care of.

Is there no limit to the depths the affluent will stoop to when taking advantage of the poor?

The women are implanted with the mother's egg fertilized by the father's sperm is what I got out of it. Biologically it would be the child of the people who she is carrying it for.

I don't think they are being taken advantage of ...not in the least. They are well taken care of and receive a better than average wage. The screening process is well done in this clinic. I see nothing wrong with it. I can also see where a couple so desperate for a child may put themselves into a great deal of debt to hire one of the woman. Perhaps it is the poor taking advantage of others...

Who they? The Indians? THey have already had their population explosion. In 2005 the population of India was more than 2,350 K. That's more than two and a third million. The fertility rate in 2005 was measured at 3.6 births per woman, down from every previous year.

The abuse of women in India takes several forms, but this is not one of those mentioned. The major abuse is the dowry system and its ramifications. Indian men are bought as husbands by a substantial dowry, which the bride brings with her into the husband's home. He and his bride live with his mother and/or grandmother and several relatives of one kind or another. The extended family is ruled by th mother, and a certain greedy practice has been a problem giving heartburn to the Indian government since 1946. If the groom's mother decides she wants to keep the dowry but ditch the bride, she need only say so and the males in the family with kill the bride.

This isn't just hearsay, although I learned it that way. I had an Indian woman working for me for a time, and this was the first thing she told me about life at home.

I agree Smokey...It is also to note that a woman can be married all her life...their money and property belongs to the husband and his family...If he dies, it is by the kindness of his family how she is treated. Sometimes they are put in the streets with nothing. It is happening today..right now...
