Mothers Search For 2 Teens Missing Since Walk Home

ST. PAUL (WCCO) ― Police are looking for two Minneapolis teens that have not been seen since Saturday night.

Thirteen-year-old Autumn Estey and 14-year-old Jeanette Solis were walking to Solis' home, but never showed up.

"It's not normal because Jeanette has never done that before," said her mother, Alejandra Giron.

Jennifer Claypool, Autumn's mother, said it is unlike her daughter not to check in.

"She calls. Even if she knows we're mad she still calls," said Claypool.

The girls had been hanging out at Autumn's house all weekend and everything seemed fine. They left Autumn's house at 8:00 Saturday night and were planning to walk to Jeanette's house six blocks away. But what should have been a 20-minute walk turned into hours of worrying and waiting for their parents.

By 10:00 p.m. Saturday, when the girls did not show up, their parents called police and filed a missing persons report.

Claypool said she has tried to call her daughter's cell phone dozens of times, but it goes right to voicemail. She has also called her daughter's friends at San Miguel Middle School but no one has heard from the girls.

On Sunday, Claypool went to stores in her neighborhood to show people her daughter's picture.

"I'm worried. I missed work today. She has never done this. She's never acted like this and we've always heard from her and we haven't heard a word from her," said Claypool.

Both parents worry that the out-going and trusting nature of their daughters may have gotten them into trouble.

"I am so worried. We don't know if they're with some friend or if something bad happened to them," said Giron.

Police said teens are more likely to run away than adolescents, but right now they have no indication to suggest that either Autumn or Jeanette ran away.

That is a scary statement. I pray these girls are safe and return home soon.

I have 2 daughters about the same ages as Autumn and Jeanette and this kind of thing scares me to death. I have been regularly checking all the local news websites and haven't heard a word about these girls since it was first reported. That in itself is frightening. My 14 year old disappeared for over 24 hours last spring and I felt like my heart was being ripped out every second that I didn't know where she was or if she was safe. She ended up being at a friends house the whole time. I can't even imagine what these two families are going through right now. I really hope with all my heart that these girls are safe somewhere and that they will return home soon.

Just another concerned mom

Welcome to HFTM Dark Orchid :11_2_104:

I agree with you. It is scary and hard on the families. I also keep looking for any updates on these girls and I don't seem to be able to find any news about them either.

Thanks for the welcome Gabby! :tender:

I have been so concerned about these girls since this happened. I hate that something like this has to occur to try to get it through my teenage girls' heads that something REALLY can happen to them out there and it doesn't matter if they're alone. I worry every time they leave the house and lately that hasn't been too often because of my worrying about this happening to them. Since we live in Minneapolis where these girls disappeared from I worry even more.

I was also browsing the Center for Missing and Exploited Children site last night and they aren't listed there. I was wondering what the reason for that might be? Anyone have any ideas about that? Just curious....

I really appreciate that you guys are doing what you can to keep the word out there. I am the "cousin" with the blog and have updated it with the missing flyer and more words. momofmonsters.blogspot.com. We are trying our best to try and keep this out there. Its frustrating for me cause I live up in Alaska and cannot be on the scene helping.

My brother started a website www.findautumn.com to hopefully get more attention. It was just put up this morning so it is pretty bare yet, but we are working on getting more pictures and such going with it.

Again, thanks for the talk. As long as people don't stop talking and spreading the word, hopefully we will have Autumn home soon!!!

I still haven't been able to find anything as far as news reports on any sites or anything like that to verify that these girls are home. It wasn't reported locally when they were found but I DO know from emails with Autumn's cousin that they are indeed safe.
Her cousin does have a blog and that has the update about them coming home. Not sure if that's enough but here's the link anyway!
