Missing man found dead

Authorities have determined that a Rhoadesville man, whose family reported him missing person two weeks ago, was the victim of an accident.
Since Dec. 5, police have been investigating the disappearance of 27-year-old Jonathan Michael Browne of Rhoadesville. Browne was last heard from by relatives at about 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 3.
“He was believed to be leaving from the Swan Woods subdivision and headed toward his residence in Rhoadesville,“ Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler said.
But when family members never heard from Browne, they called authorities. Police conducted interviews with family, friends and neighbors and asked the community to be on the lookout for Browne’s 2002 Toyota pickup, according to Tyler.
But the search ended yesterday when rescue personnel responded to information that Browne’s Toyota pickup had been spotted overturned in a pond on Pine Tree Road near Rhoadesville, Tyler said.
“It appears the vehicle flipped off the side of the roadway and flipped over into the pond,“ Tyler said. Police found Browne’s body was inside the truck.
“An autopsy determined Mr. Browne died of accidental drowning,“ Tyler added.
