PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Authorities are currently searching for a missing 11-year-old Caucasian female from Portageville.

"Right now, we are considering this as a run-away case," said Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams. "There are a lot of speculations out there, but until we come up with more information, it is just a run-away case."

According to Adams, Jamie Nolen, 11, had apparently gotten into trouble and while the parents were discussing the problem, she left the premises.

Nolen is approximately 5 feet tall and about 83 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light blue long-sleeved pajama top and light blue pajama pants with no shoes and no coat.

Following the report of Nolen missing, an alert was placed members of the Portageville Police and Fire Departments, New Madrid County Sheriff's Department, and County Search and Rescue Teams. Several volunteers also canvassed the area last night in search of Nolen.

"There were two canine units involved, but when the storm front came and the rains started, what scent was there has been washed away," Adams said.

"We were hoping that when the children began to wake up Tuesday morning, that she would be found sleeping with one of her friends, but was not the case."

Nolen is the daughter of Pat and Monica Nolen of 304 W. 11th Street of Portageville.

Anyone with information about Nolen should contact their local authorities or the Portageville Police Department at (573) 379-5500.

Jamie Nolen, 11, of Portageville, Mo., ran away from home on Monday, Dec. 8. Authorities located her at approximately 10:30 a.m., Tuesday.

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo.--An 11-year-old girl who recently went missing, leaving local authorities searching for her whereabouts, was located early Tuesday.

According to Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams, Jamie Nolen was located between 10:30 and 11 a.m., in a vacant structure, just a few houses down from her residence, where her parents and others waited and worried, concerned for their daughter's safety.

"She is back home and safe and sound now," said Adams of the girl's condition.

Nolen voluntarily ran away from her home yesterday evening after getting into trouble. While her parents were discussing the problem, she left the premises wearing only light pajamas with no coat or shoes on, according to Adams.

While Portageville police, the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department and County Search and Rescue teams canvassed the area last night in search of Nolen, she remained in the vacant building, wrapped in blankets on an old mattress.

Two canine units assisted in the search on Monday evening, but when the storm front came and rain started to poor, Adams said there was no scent for the animals to track.

Eventually, a couple located Nolen in the abandoned structure and returned her to her parents, Pat and Monica Nolen.

"We want to thank the community for helping with this case and helping to get the word out," Adams said. "We're glad she is safe."
