PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Authorities are currently searching for a missing 11-year-old Caucasian female from Portageville.
"Right now, we are considering this as a run-away case," said Portageville Police Chief Ronnie Adams. "There are a lot of speculations out there, but until we come up with more information, it is just a run-away case."
According to Adams, Jamie Nolen, 11, had apparently gotten into trouble and while the parents were discussing the problem, she left the premises.
Nolen is approximately 5 feet tall and about 83 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light blue long-sleeved pajama top and light blue pajama pants with no shoes and no coat.
Following the report of Nolen missing, an alert was placed members of the Portageville Police and Fire Departments, New Madrid County Sheriff's Department, and County Search and Rescue Teams. Several volunteers also canvassed the area last night in search of Nolen.
"There were two canine units involved, but when the storm front came and the rains started, what scent was there has been washed away," Adams said.
"We were hoping that when the children began to wake up Tuesday morning, that she would be found sleeping with one of her friends, but was not the case."
Nolen is the daughter of Pat and Monica Nolen of 304 W. 11th Street of Portageville.
Anyone with information about Nolen should contact their local authorities or the Portageville Police Department at (573) 379-5500.
