Selma police are looking for a missing Selma woman.

Sheila Cogburn, 46, was last seen Dec. 5 leaving her residence in the 300 Block of Abbott Avenue.

Detectives do not suspect foul play, though.

“Her boyfriend reported her missing,” Lt. Art Freine said. “They had a fight, and she left. He hasn’t seen her since then. Neighbors saw her leaving the residence. It was 11 a.m. Saturday morning, so there were plenty of people around.”

Authorities have checked many places Cogburn is known to frequent, but the searches have not turned up anything. Police have learned the missing woman does not have any family in the area.

Freine said Cogburn does not have a vehicle, but she does go to other cities.

“She could have gotten a ride to Montgomery,” Freine said. “She has been known to go there.”

Cogburn stands 5-feet-4 and weighs 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts can call police at 874-2125 or 874-2133 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-442-7463.

Police still searching for woman

December 18, 2008

Police are still searching for a 46-year-old Selma woman who disappeared more than two weeks ago.

Sheila Cogburn was reported missing Dec. 5 by her boyfriend. He last saw her the morning of Nov. 29.

“We are still looking for any information to lead to the whereabouts of Sheila Cogburn,” Sgt. Doug Stewart said. “We’ve looked into possible leads, but have not found anything yet.”

At the time of Cogburn’s disappearance, police did not suspect foul play. Neighbors saw her leaving her residence at 11 a.m. that morning, according to Lt. Art Freine.

Freine said Cogburn did not own a car or have family in the Selma area.

Officers checked the places Cogburn had been known to frequent.

Cogburn could have received a ride from someone to Montgomery, Freine said, but she has not turned up yet.

Officers asked the community to look out for Cogburn or, if possible, for the missing woman to notify police of her whereabouts.

She stands 5-feet-4 and weighs 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts can call police at 874-2125 or 874-2133 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-442-7463.
