LONGMONT — The Longmont Police Department is seeking an Amber Alert for two missing children whose mother may be hiding them from authorities, police said today.

Police suspect Blanche Brown, 31, is hiding her 15-year-old and 1-year-old daughters in homes where methamphetamine is used.

Cmdr. Tim Lewis of the Longmont Police Department said the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the department’s request to issue the alert. He said investigators believe Brown has changed cell phones and vehicles regularly to avoid police and is likely in the Denver Metro area.

The 15-year-old, Ariella “Nicki” Chipps, has not been seen since Friday. Brown pulled the girl from school to avoid investigations by law enforcement and the Boulder County Department of Social Services, police said.

Brown and her 1-year-old, Irianna Dunn, were seen Tuesday in a beige, four-door Toyota Camry with front-end damage.

Brown is wanted on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child neglect and providing marijuana to a child.

She is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 215 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. She also has been driving a maroon, 1993 Toyota 4Runner with Colorado license plate 981-LCP.

I didn't find an update that this woman and these children has been located. I pray they are found soon. She definitely isn't a fit person to raise them if she has them in a house of drugs and gives them drugs too. IMO

Children Found Safe


DENVER -- Two children are safe after police said they were abducted by their mother described by authorities as paranoid, police said Wednesday.

Blanche Brown was wanted on an outstanding warrant for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, providing marijuana to a child and child neglect, said Cmdr. Timothy Lewis of the Longmont Police Department.

She took her two children, a 15-year-old girl and a 1-year-old girl, and was believed to be keeping them in homes where methamphetamine use is common, Lewis said.



Detectives tracked Brown to a Thornton home and arrested her Wednesday afternoon, police said. Chipps was found with the 15-year-old daughter who was placed into protective custody.

Investigators learned that the 1-year-old daughter was with another person and after several hours of negotiations over the phone, the child was released to police and placed into protective custody, Lewis said.

Detectives feared Brown was "very paranoid and taking extreme measures to avoid law enforcement," while hiding her two children, Lewis said.

Update: Longmont police previously released the names and photos of Brown's children in order to assist the public in finding them. TheDenverChannel.com also published those names and photos, but removed that information after Brown was arrested.
