The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating a human skeleton found by a hunter along Gas House Pike in Frederick on Saturday.

The skeleton belonged to a white man in his mid- to late-40s who died between June and July this year, according to Cpl. Jennifer Bailey, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office on Monday was preparing to release distinguishing details about the skeleton to other police agencies so they could check their lists of missing persons, Bailey said.

"The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is not investigating any missing persons at this time," Bailey said.

The skeleton was found in the 9900 block of Gas House Pike, which is east of Frederick and north of Interstate 70, at about noon on Saturday.

The skeleton was not intact, Bailey said, but investigators have determined that the man was wearing a blue or black knit cap and Mountain Gear brand hiking boots when he died.

Det. Regis Seccola is investigating the case, Bailey said. Seccola observed an autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore on Monday.

The autopsy revealed that the man sustained a severe fracture in his left foot at some point in his life, and may have walked with a limp, Bailey said.

Details, such as height, weight, dental composition, and cause of death have yet to be determined, Bailey said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Det. Seccola at 301-600-2825.

Hope they do release some distinguishing information that may lead to his identity.

I hope releasing the clothing description to other agencies will help identify this person. A family somewhere is missing a loved one and needs answers. :(
They give some info in this article.

Anyone with information that could help identify the remains is asked to call Detective Regis Secola at 301-600-2825.

An autopsy Monday determined that remains found in a wooded area of Frederick County over the weekend are those of a white man, believed to be in his mid- to late 40s, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.
A hunter called the county's emergency communications center about 12:05 p.m. Saturday to report finding the remains, Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said.

Until a cause of death has been determined, the case is being considered a death investigation, Bailey said.

No items of identification were found with the skeleton, which might have been in the 9900 block of Gas House Pike near Linganore Road since June or July, Bailey said.

No weapons were found.

The sheriff's office has no missing persons cases that could be linked to the remains.

In an attempt to identify the man, the sheriff's office will reach out to police agencies across the state and will look into its log of towed vehicles.

In addition to determining the gender and race of the deceased, the autopsy determined that the man had a severe fracture to his left foot that might have caused him to limp, Bailey said.

The medical examiner still has to determine the cause and manner of death and the person's height and weight, as well as complete a dental evaluation.

The man's clothing was so deteriorated from being out in the elements that only his boots and cap were immediately describable.

The boots were dark-colored Mountain Gear brand hiking boots. A knit cap the man wore was black or dark blue.

Deputies may be able to release a description of the man's pants and shirt after the items have dried out, Bailey said.

Look4u mentioned the case of this man who went missing in July 2007 although they say these remains may not have been there that long. We never know. . .

John Morris left the home in the 24000 block of White's Ferry Road at 11 p.m. July 30, shortly after he broke up with his partner, whom police said was verbally abusive.

"He had an altercation with his boyfriend, and he asked him to leave," said Montgomery County Police Detective Roderick Stephens.

"At this point, there's definitely foul play or possibly suicide," Stephens said. "He could be anywhere between here and New Jersey."

I've just spoken to the detective investigating this case. He has informed me that five missing persons have been ruled out at this point, one of them being John Morris, through dental records . This is an active and ongoing investigation at this time .
