The Little 3 did it to themselves. Had they done more R&R instead of spending money for BS, including continued bonuses, perks while the company was failing they wouldn't be in this mess. We needed better cars with better gas mileage 20 yrs ago.

I haven't bought junk out of Detroit since 1983 with my T-Bird that was constantly in the shop, prior a 1980 Camaro that was painted with a thin sloppy paint job from the factory before shipped. JMHO

I recently bought a new Camry just to try one out for gas economy (plus pressure from daughter to try one). I will not join in the bashing of the Big Three, however. A 1991 Chev 3/4 ton van (v8) that I bought new is still running good for the young family I sold it to. My favorite car of all time was a 1986 Chrysler LeBaron that ran like a top, was good on gas, etc. I sold it because I wanted the van to travel in. I guess I have been extremely lucky with vehicles. Even the VW passat wagon never gave me any trouble. I have to wonder if other people know how to take care of their vehicles. I see a lot of foreign cars sitting in repair shops, also. I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not rely just on what a mag rag tells me is the best car.
