It really bothers me to read that Daniels was a "recent friend", and then to see his mug shot, that makes me think the worst. I hope I'm wrong and she is soon home with her family.

Danville Mother of 3 Missing Since Friday

FOX8 News
A Danville, Va., woman with ties to Greensboro hasn't been seen by her family since Friday.
Courtney Servais, a stay-at-home mother of three, dropped her youngest child off at a babysitter Friday morning so she could go to a job interview. Courtney's father, Lawrence Torpin, said later that day everything changed.
"Police went to Courtney's mother's house because they couldn't reach anybody at her husband' house," Torpin, who lives in Greensboro, said. "They had the front bumper and tag off her car. They were investigating an automobile accident ... someone running into the side of a single-wide trailer and drove off."
Halifax County (Va.) investigators say Dennis Daniel is a person of interest in the case. He was last seen with Servais somewhere between Halifax and Danville.
Daniel was arrested Saturday for unrelated breaking and entering and trespassing charges in Pittsylvania County.
"Dennis was a friend of Courtney's. She was having some issue with her husband," said Torpin.
Investigators want to speak with anyone who has seen Courtney or her car, a 1999 white four-door Honda Civic. The car has a Virginia license plate, XTY 620, but no front bumper.
"You never quit giving up hope until you have concrete fact," said Torpin. "I'm hoping they find my daughter. I'm hoping they find my baby and that she's going to be home for Christmas."

Body of missing woman found
The body believed to be that of 30 year old Courtney Servais was located Wednesday morning off Route 360, about one mile west of the Halifax County line, in an area known to locals as "Red Oak Hollow." Members of the Sheriffs Departments of both Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties had been searching for the woman since Friday, Dec. 19.
According to Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin, search teams from his department and that of the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office located the body around 8:55 a.m. Christmas Eve.
Noblin said his crew and that of Pittsylvania County were aided in the search by a cadaver canine which had been supplied by Dogs East of Northern Virginia. "Despite the fact that we had searched that area extensively," Noblin said, "the dog went straight to the body."
The Sheriff could give no detail on the cause of the woman's death, saying that forensic teams from both departments were examining the woman's body which will be sent to the state lab to determine the cause of death. He added that the state lab will probably not reopen until Monday, Dec. 29.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Department, along with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office earlier had been looking for the woman, who was reported "missing or endangered." Several people told authorities that she was last seen near the county line close to the communities of Ingram and Birchland Park in the company of Dennis Daniel, who officers term "a person of interest in the case."
Late Friday night the Halifax County Sheriff's Office contacted the Pittsylvania County office and asked for a "well-being" check on Courtney Servais. Deputies went to the address in Pittsylvania County which was provided by Halifax officials but could not locate the woman.
Servais was described as a white female, 30 years of age, five feet, six inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with green eyes and shoulder length hair that was recently dyed black. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, a black sweater with a maroon stripe, black slacks and black boots with a heel.
The Halifax office issued a nationwide broadcast on Saturday, Dec. 20, asking law enforcement to be on the look-out for Servais and/or the car she was thought to be operating which is a white 1999 Honda Civic four door. The car was later located in Pittsylvania County, but Servais was not in the vehicle.
Pittsylvania authorities found Daniel on Saturday night near the Danville hospital and took him into custody on a former trespassing charge. He was then transferred to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax where he had been out on bond after having been charged with grand larceny. However, the individual who posted his post withdrew it, and he was charged in Halifax on a capias for withdrawal of his bond surety. As of Wednesday, Daniel remained in the local jail.

The husband of Courtney Servais, missing since Dec. 19, said Friday he has identified her by tattoos and other features after the body of a woman was found Wednesday in a wooded area off Old Richmond Road.
“It’s her,” Steven Servais said when contacted by telephone Friday night. “She has been found.”
The couple has three children — ages 9, 7 and 2 — who don’t yet know about their mother’s death.
“They spent Christmas with my mom,” Steven Servais said. “They’ll be home tomorrow.
“I have to sit down and explain it to them. I have to take care of my family, but I don’t know what I’ll say.”
Law enforcement officials have declined to identify the body until it is examined by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke, but Steven Servais is convinced it is his wife.
“They (police officials) have to finish processing the evidence so they’ll have a concrete case before they charge anyone,” he said. “They have to do what they have to do, so everybody who might be involved gets what they deserve out of this.”
Courtney Servais, 30, disappeared after her car was involved in a reported hit-and-run accident on Route 360.
A search by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and DOGS-East, a search and rescue group from Northern Virginia, began shortly after she was reported missing. On Wednesday, a woman’s body was found by a cadaver dog in the 17000 block of Old Richmond Road/Route 360 in an area known as Red Oak Hollow.
Authorities have said Courtney Servais was seen with Dennis Daniel before she disappeared. He has been named a “person of interest” in the case and was arrested on other charges. Daniel is being held without bond at the Halifax County Jail.
Steven Servais said he expects his wife’s body to be returned by the medical examiner on Monday, and funeral arrangements are being handled by Norris Funeral Services.

Friends share new details about missing woman as funeral arrangements are made
December 27, 2008
UPDATED: Halifax County woman reported missing; person of interest found
Courtney Servais hasn't been seen alive since December 19.
Investigators found a woman's body off Route 360 in Pittsylvania County Wednesday, but medical examiners have not said whether that body belongs to 30-year-old Servais.
Meanwhile, Dennis Daniel is being questioned as a person of interest in the case. He's being held in Halifax County on unrelated charges. Daniel has not been charged with any crime related to the disappearance of Servais.
Friends say Servais and Daniel spent most of the last few months at a farm in Red Oak Hollow.
Tammy Wiles lives on the farm and was becoming good friends with Servais.
"She was just very likable," says Wiles. "The first time I met her, I just liked her right off the bat."
Wiles is now focusing on the happy moments, like a shopping trip she took with Servais on the day after Thanksgiving.
"It was a lot of fun," says Wiles. "Just, having somebody new around and making new memories. She even picked out my coat."
Wiles is Dennis Daniel's cousin. She says Servais and Daniel spent many afternoons at a pond near her home, riding paddle boats and sharing moments on a dock.
"[Courtney] loved it here on the farm," says Wiles. "She told me the first time she came that she thought it was just beautiful."
Wiles' home is less than a mile from the woods where investigators found a woman's body on Wednesday.
"I was just praying that if it was Courtney, that she was still alive," says Wiles. "They told me that the person wasn't. And I just lost it."
Wiles now wants her friend remembered as a loving person and a caring mother.
"I still had hope for her to be alive and to be with her children for Christmas," says Wiles.
News 7 spoke briefly with Courtney's husband, Steven, Friday night. He says funeral arrangements are being made for his wife.
Although the remains found Wednesday haven't been identified as Courtney, Servais says there are tattoos on the body that match ones belonging to his wife.

The location itself is about 150 yards off of Old Richmond Road and approximately 2 miles from the Pittsylvania County and Halifax County boundary line, he said.

Man identifies body as that of wife, Courtney Servais
Despite the fact that law enforcement officers say they cannot provide a positive identification on the body of the woman found last Wednesday off State Route 360 in an area known locally as Red Oak Hollow, her husband told the Danville Register & Bee on Friday that the body is that of his wife, 30 year old Courtney Servais. Steven Servais said he was able to identify his wife's body by tattoos and other features.
According to Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin, the body has been set to the state medical examiner's office in Roanoke for an autopsy and results are expected back sometime today. Officials in the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office were unavailable for comment over the week-end.
Servais told the Danville newspaper that he and his wife were the parents of three young children, ages 9, 7 and 2 who at the time of his interview had not been told of their mother's death.
Noblin said members of his department got involved in the case after they were alerted to a report of the woman's being "missing and endangered" on Dec. 19. It was reported to them that she had last been seen in the Ingram and Birchland Park area in the company of Dennis Daniel. At that time they labeled Daniel "a person of interest" in the case.
A nationwide broadcast was issued on Dec. 20 asking law enforcement officers to be on the look-out for the white 1999 Honda Civic which had earlier been involved in a reported hit and run crash on Route 360.
Daniel was taken into custody on Saturday night by Pittsylvania County authorities and then turned over to Halifax County law enforcement who charged him with being out on a bond which had been revoked. Daniel is currently being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail on that charge.
