A 77-year-old woman with severe dementia is missing today after family members left her alone in a van as they walked along Milwaukee's lakefront to Bradford Beach.

Arlene Tadyshak of Milwaukee disappeared around 12:30 p.m., said Kim Brooks, public information officer for the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

The van is missing too.

Tadyshak's family parked the blue, 1989 Plymouth Voyager in the McKinley Marina and walked to Bradford Beach to watch the Polar Bear swim in Lake Michigan, Brooks said.

When they returned about 45 minutes later, Tadyshak and the van were gone.

The Sheriff's Office is asking people with information about the woman to call them immediately at (414) 278-4788. Tadyshak is described as a white female with gray hair, 5 feet 3 inches tall and 137 pounds. She was last seen wearing a pink coat and hat and black or tan pants.

The van has a black hood and Wisconsin license plate number 826 HFF.
