DOC sends Neil Entwistle packing to Bridgewater lockup
Wednesday, December 17, 2008
Double-murderer Neil Entwistle is moving on up in the prison system just five months into his life sentence, swapping his maximum-security cell in a hellish jail for a less-oppressive lockup.
The betraying Brit, convicted this summer of executing his wife and baby girl in 2006 over frustration with his sex life and failing finances, now calls Old Colony Correctional Center in Bridgewater home.
Department of Correction spokeswoman Diane Wiffin said Entwistle, 30, has just been sent to the medium-security facility as “part of the classification process.” That process, she added, considers an inmate’s safety.
Entwistle, who never had a hair out of place during his trial this summer, was tricked into shaving his head and becoming a skinhead in August while at the maximum-security Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley.
Sources told the Herald that Entwistle shaved his scalp as advised on the phony promise of protection from white-supremacist prisoners. The skinheads let the gullible Brit in on the prank afterward but threatened to whack him anyway.
Souza-Baranowski also has been the scene of recent unrest. The prison is planning to install 400 bunk beds to squeeze in more convicts. They also are proposing to allow cons to choose roomates - a toxic plan, guards said, that could have gang members doubling up.
Entwistle, guards tell the Herald, was kept as far away from the general population as possible while at Souza-Baranowski.
