Washoe County: Search for identity of Truckee River body continues
Wed., Dec. 31, 2008
Nearly a year after a partially decomposed body was discovered on the banks of the Truckee River, local law enforcement have still not identified who the man was.
On January 7, 2008, Washoe County Sheriff's Detectives found the cadaver just east of Reno, according to a news release issued by Spokeswoman Deputy Brooke Keast.
The victim's body appeared to have been floating in the Truckee River prior to washing onto the river's edge, Keast said, adding that he was dressed appropriately for the cold temperatures the area had been experiencing.
The man is believed to have been a white man, approximately 45 to 60 years old, about 5-feet-9-inches tall, and 197 pounds, Keast said adding that he had brown and gray hair, which was pulled back into a small ponytail when he was found. He also had a brownish-gray beard and moustache.
If viewers and readers have any information regarding this case, they are urged to contact Washoe County Detective Division at 775-328-3320 or Detective Kathleen Bishop at 328-3047.
