Police: Mother helped husband rape their daughter

Clayton County police said a Riverdale mother moved out of her marital bed so her husband could sexually assault their daughter there, plied the girl with vodka and ordered her to comply with continued rape and molestation.

The 33-year-old woman is charged with rape, statutory rape, incest, aggravated child molestation, sodomy, enticing a child for indecent purposes and furnishing alcohol to a minor. She is being held without bond in the Clayton County Jail.


Her estranged husband faces the same charges and is being sought by police, police spokeswoman Lt. Rebecca Brown said. Brown said the couple separated after reportedly confessing the crimes to Atlanta police. The whereabouts of the 32-year-old man are unknown.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is withholding the names of the parents to protect the identity of the daughter.

Warrants allege the mother did nothing to stop the assaults on her daughter, telling her to “just lay there and do it,” when the girl refused to have sex with her father.

The warrants said the father punished the girl to make her comply, using his “parental authority to make the victim stand upright in the middle of the room until 3 a.m. when the victim grew tired and relented.”

The alleged sexual assaults happened in Riverdale from March-August 2007, according to Magistrate Court warrants. A police report shows the incidents also happened while the family lived in Atlanta but is unclear whether the couple was charged there.

Brown said a mother who knows her child is being sexually abused but fails to protect the child is charged with the abuser. Mothers who know about abuse but remove the child from harm are not held accountable, Brown said.

In a Clayton case in 2007, a mother was sentenced to five years’ probation for not protecting her infant daughter from an abusive boyfriend. The boyfriend, who was sentenced to life plus 40 years, molested and beat the child so badly the girl was paralyzed from the waist down.

Georgia Department of Human Resources spokeswoman Taka Wiley said investigators are trained to look at all aspects of child abuse cases, so it is not surprising to find a mother charged with failing to protect her child.

“We look at everything where abuse is alleged,” she said, including all adults in the home.

I won't buy an excuse of abuse, either. He had to go to sleep sometime, and when he did, should have found a frying pan or something worse smacking him in his head.

Anything but sitting back letting him abuse the child.

I'm glad they both face the same charges, and hope they never breathe free air again in their miserable lives. I just hope they find him soon so he can be punished, too.

I am glad LE is protecting the child's name. She has to be going through emotional torture. I hope they find that scum soon. Neither one of them deserve to be called mother and father or mom and dad.

If he was raping her in mar - aug 2007 then you can best bet he had been sexually abusing her her whole life. Did it say how old she was?

I don't think the souls in hell would let that piece of scum in , they'd find someplace worse for a piece of work like that, basically that's beyond evil and the devil wouldn't associate with him . :0devil:

It wouldn't have even gotten that far with me. I would have hit him with a bat if necessary, he'd never get near my child....I'd probably wind up in jail for murder....:45024:

Sounds to me like the mother would rather have her child abused than have his "attention" turned on her. I went to college with a girl that was sexually abused by her father with her mother's knowledge. She told me that her mother didn't want to have sex when her father demanded it so she (my friend) was "sacrificed" at her mother's hand. The stories she told were horrible.:1187603408.CR.Mothe

This is just horrible. I believe this kind of situation has happened more then what we think. That poor child. For her mother to help in anyway just is really bothersome. I pray this child will have the strength to get through this.

This just totally turned my stomach upside down. Castration and isolation 4 ever to both!
The mom should just plain die. I'll never understand what motivate people to do such vile and evil things to another and a child at that!
This child will be in my prayers. Shes going to need a lot of counseling, patience and above all real love.
I also might add, its getting harder and harder for me to keep the faith after reading things like this. This is just one that we know about, what about the ones we haven't heard of yet or never will?

As horrific and vile as the abuse was, what IMO will scar this child forever is the betrayal by her own mother. I want to see both in prison for the rest of their lives, but I actually want it just a little more for this mother. To allow this to happen to anyone is beyond belief, but to allow it to your own child, there truly are not words. I tend to be a bit of an agnostic when it comes to God, Heaven, Hell, etc...... This woman causes me to hope there is at least a Hell and that she will spend eternity in it.

This very much reminds me of a case I saw on TV not too long ago. I forget what network, but it was a documentary about a woman in prison for just this type of thing. She was a single mom, and when her daughter was quite young (forget the age.....I'm forgetting some of the details), she got a boyfriend who was a SLEAZE and she was planning a birthday party for him, and asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he said sex with her daughter. She was shocked at first but she did go along with it. And that's how YEARS of sexual abuse began for that poor little girl. The mother not only "helped" him but ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED in sex with her daughter and the guy.

I came close to vomiting several times watching that show.

Eventually they were "caught" and both sentenced to prison. The daughter was on the show.....I think she is about 21 now. She has made peace with her mother to a certain degree, but is going through long-term counseling. I think the mother got out of prison, then went back. A drug charge I think.

It was a fascinating, albeit sickening, show. Interviews with everyone involved (except the guy).

Does anyone recall this show? It may have been on MSNBC.

I can't fathom it either, no way in the world. To have your MOTHER participate in three-way sex with you.....a CHILD! OMG it is beyond belief.

The mother's excuse was she was "weak" and I think had been abused herself (I HATE that excuse!!!!!!!) and always wanted to be loved and would do anything to "keep her man" or whatever.

I think through years and years of counseling in prison she did end up realizing her crime.....both legal and of course moral......but....little good does that do now. Her daughter will NEVER be "right", she will be in counseling herself probably for life.
