Missing Stow man found dead in Florida

A 58-year-old Stow man who was reported missing in early January was found dead Feb. 15 in Florida.

Timothy Heil was found inside his vehicle in a St. Augustine, Fla., hospital parking lot with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the St. John's, Fla., Sheriff's Department reported, said Lt. Rick Edwards, public information officer for the Akron Police Department.

The death was ruled a suicide by a coroner in Florida by a single gunshot wound to the head after an autopsy was performed Feb. 16, Edwards said.

Edwards said police did not find a note, but they did find the handgun.

Edwards said Akron Police were notified of the death on the evening of Feb. 15.

Edwards said he did not know why Heil was in Florida. He said Heil's family was notified of the death Feb. 16.
