Bethel (WTNH) - Police are asking for the public's help to find a teenage girl in Bethel that hasn't been seen since Tuesday morning.

Katlyn Leonard walked away from Bethel High School Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. She was last seen wearing a mint green jacket, pants and white sneakers.

She does have a history of running away, but usually returns in a few hours.

A person matching Katlyn's description was seen at Danbury Square Plaza on Backus Avenue in Danbury on Tuesday night.

BETHEL -- The police department is asking for the public's help to help find an apparent runaway teen.

Katlyn Leonard, 15, was last scene at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday walking away from Bethel High School, according to police.

She has not returned home or made contact with her family.

She was last seen wearing a light, mint green jacket, pants of an unknown color and white sneakers.

Police report that she has no money. She also does not have a cell phone.

The girl has a long history of running away, police said, but usually returns home in a few hours.

A person matching the teen's description was scene in several stores in the Danbury Square Plaza on Backus Avenue Tuesday evening.

Katlyn has blue eyes, brown hair, is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 85 pounds.

The community's help is needed in finding a young Bethel resident, who went missing early this week.

Katlyn Leonard, 15, was last seen at Bethel High School (BHS) early Tuesday morning, and she hasn't made contact with her family since then, according to Officer Tony Farina, who is investigating her disappearance.
The teen, who is white with blue eyes and short brown hair, stands about 5 feet tall and weighs about 80 to 85 pounds, according to a description supplied by police.
When she was last seen, she was wearing a light mint green jacket, pants of unknown color and white sneakers.
She did not have a cell phone and had no money, according to police.
BHS Principal Patricia Cosentino was unavailable for comment.
Officer Farina said it is believed that Katlyn left the school "around 8:30 a.m.," but no one seems to know where she was going.
A teen fitting her description was seen at stores in the Danbury Square Plaza on Backus Avenue the evening of her disappearance., but Officer Farina said that as of mid-day yesterday her whereabouts remain unknown.

Good news that she was found safe. Kids this age have no clue as to the danger out on the street. Since she is a repeat runaway maybe her family will get her some help. There could be valid reasons as to why she keeps running away from home. In the past it said she usually returned within a couple of hours. So, what makes this teen leave for such a short time? Maybe family & children services need to take look at what is going on in this young teens life.
