Coon Rapids police are seeking the public's help in locating a developmentally disabled man who was last seen Wednesday.

Derres Laquan King, 21, is known to have seizures and does not have his necessary medication. He was reported missing last Friday and Coon Rapids police say they have exhausted all leads in trying to locate him.

He does not have a vehicle and police believe someone may have offered him a place to stay without knowing that his family is concerned for his safety.

King is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 153 pounds and was last seen wearing a white and gold colored jacket underneath a black hoodie with black pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 763-427-1212.

A man who is developmentally disabled and is subject to seizures has gone missing in Coon Rapids.

The Coon Rapids Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Derres Laquan King, 21.

King, who lives with a cousin in the Camelot Square Apartment complex on Raven Street, was last seen Jan. 7 and was reported missing Jan. 9.

According to Deputy Police Chief Tim Snell, there was delay of two days in reporting King missing because he had left his home before, but had always returned within two days in the past.

Derres does not have a vehicle, nor his necessary medication, Snell said.

“We have no reason to suspect foul play, but we have exhausted leads in trying to locate him,” he said.

“We believe he may have been offered a place to stay by someone who does not know that his family is concerned for his safety.”

At this point, police have no specific idea where King might be, Snell said.

King is an African American, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 153 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, with a white and gold colored jacket underneath the hoodie, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call 763-427-1212.

A developmentally disabled man missing for nearly a week was found after returning to his Coon Rapids home on his own today.

Derres Laquan King, 21, made it home on his own sometime in the afternoon and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids for a medical evaluation. He is doing well, police said.

Police said earlier this week that King is known to have seizures and did not have his necessary medication. He was reported missing last Friday, and Coon Rapids police said they had exhausted all leads in trying to locate him.
