Sharif Lugonija, a Bosnian native who had been missing from his daughter's home in Plainville since 1 p.m. Sunday, was found safe and sound at a family member's home in Hartford Tuesday. A Bosnian visitor, who was missing from his daughter's home in Plainville for nearly 24 hours, was located safe and sound Monday afternoon in Hartford. Serif Lugonja, 55, who had gone for a walk Sunday at about 1 p.m. and was reported missing by his son-in-law at about 8 p.m., was found at a family member's home Tuesday, according to Plainville Police Sgt. Tim Mullaney.

Lugonja, who doesn't speak English, got a ride with a friend to Hartford and became lost. "There was no criminal aspect to the case," Mullaney said.

The search began at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday for Lugonja who was described as Caucasian, 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. He allegedly had $20 with him but was not wearing a coat, only khaki pants and a gray sweater.

Plainville police and firefighters, Southington police and state police with search dogs, combed the southern area of Plainville Sunday night without success. Lugonja is living with family on Bartlett Street less than a mile from the Plainville-Southington town line.

Mullaney said it is fortunate that the situation ended well.
