Newark police seek missing city man

Newark police are searching for a city man who has been missing for a week, authorities said.

Qadir Boyd, 29, who lives on Matthews Drive, was reported missing by his mother Eunice Slade on Jan. 8, said Detective Todd McClendon. His disappearance occurred a day after he was stopped in his 1994 Honda Accord by police in New York City.

McClendon could not immediately information yesterday on why Boyd was stopped.

Boyd is an African-American man with black closely-cropped hair, brown eyes, and medium skin tone, McClendon said. He weighs 140 pounds and stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall.

He has a scar on the left side of his face and on the back of his head, McClendon said. Boyd, who was last seen wearing a blue hoody, drives a black Honda Accord with a New Jersey license plate that reads YKF93U.

McClendon said Quadir may also go by the names Marceil Boyd, Darryl Washington and "Q".

Some of the comments under the article about Quadir missing just infuriates me. Hate, racism and prejudice attitudes are so dark and demoralising.

Newark police seek assistance in finding Marceil "Qadir" Boyd, 30. Boyd is 5/6" tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was last seen in the early morning hours on Jan. 6 in Society Hill, leaving home in a 1994 Black Honda Accord.

Worked for N.J. Law Journal Qadir "Q" Ali Marceil Boyd, 29, a lifelong resident of Newark, made his transition. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Whigham Funeral Home, 580 Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Blvd, Newark. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Newark. Visitation is Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Qadir was employed at the N.J. Law Journal. He was an active member of Leadership Newark Class of 2009. He was the beloved son of Carol Martinez (biological) and Eunice Slade; loving grandson of Gladys Boyd; caring brother of Tikki, Tieshia and Shanequa Boyd, Tania Slade, Tamika and Yanik Donaldson; dear uncle of Elijah Davis Jr., Brian Jr. and Kayla Levine; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
