I read the article once, then skimmed it again. I kept thinking I was somehow misunderstanding the dollar amount. I am speechless how 19 years of someones' life is only worth a little more than $150,000.

I think what is sad is that as a society if this story was about a person who had been kidnapped and kept for 19 years the public would be screaming from the rooftops. When if you really stop and think about it, this man had almost the same thing done to him. He was kidnapped by the system. God only knows what happened to him in prison. For 19 years no matter how many times nor how loudly he screamed, no one helped. Sadly for him it was not some lunatic that did it to him, it was his own government. Yet, he is just an article on a blog or on the Innocence Project website. The vast majority of the public will never hear of him. Nor, IMO do most want to.
