unable to characterize as being good or bad shows that a character has depth and complexity and is usually a good sign since this is what is more commonly found in real life.

Its why film noir often features the highly cynical and very jaded as heroes.

All of my favorites last week were repeats, the CSI's were, Mentalist was.

Either this series is getting better & better each week or it is growing on me. Cause the hour seems to go by so fast.

I hope it does not turn into one of those shows where she is always 'right' or that she always 'wins'

I really liked 'Shark' with James Woods, but it became too predictable, and was canceled.

I hope that this show is more like LA LAW, with a more realistic winning and loosing type of show, that gives viewers something to talk about.

I agree with that. She needs to have a few flaws.

Flaws?
Before it became rather silly, that Monk detective show was about a character with flaws.

A good many detective novels now feature characters with flaws:
Detectives who are alcoholics or have personal lives in great upheaval.
Detectives who are remorseless and unrepentant thieves.
Detectives who are social outcasts for some reason or who have a career-blocking blemish on their record.

The trouble is that for commercial television advertisers want PABLUM. Bland characters that offend no one. Or JELLO or whatever is not particularly thrilling but not particularly offensive either.

Even the movie Matchstick Men which featured a grifter with a host of personal problems deleted the scene where he came home and suddenly encountered his "daughter" in a skimpy bikini. Corporate sponsors for TV shows simply do not want controversy. They want high ratings for the shows but not due to controversy. Too much realism in a TV show and the ad slots will remain unsold.

You're probably right FG. It's all about the "bottom line"... heaven forbid someone should turn off the show and miss a commercial. I guess I'm just not as easily offended as some folks. LOL

Is her husband due to be released on the next show? Overheard my brother and DS discussing the show the other day, one asked the other that question.

As far as commercials go, usually DVR the shows and fast forward thru those.
