So sorry about Sandy, Louise. You did all that you could for her. Big hugs coming your way.

However, we have decided that enough is enough for the poor little girl, she has been through way too much and in her weakened condition it would probably do more harm to her than good if we were to try and treat the suspected hepatitis, there is no guarantee that it would work anyway so we are going to the clinic this morning to say goodbye to her. I will miss her so much....
Oh, Louise....
I'm so sorry, but know that you gave Sandy a great life filled with love. she couldn't have had a better life! You're doing the right thing, just like I did with my Chihuahua, Boner... you know when it's time. Big comforting hugs to you & kisses to Sandy.

Those of us with aging pets know our turn at heartbreak is coming...but they are still worth it for all the wonderful memories.

Sad news about Ft. Hood. Remember to take your flags to half staff today if you fly one.

On a lighter note: Grins, for some reason as I was reading your poetry I was reminded of the Robert Burns poem "To a Louse". I have used the last part of that poem so many times...."..to see ourselves as others see us". I started trying to remember where I heard that, and remembered it was a high school memory of a poem about head lice. I wonder how many people use that saying without knowing they are quoting a poem aout a louse. We had to memorize it in old english. I hope they do not torture kids with that stuff today.
It doesn't surprise me that you've expressed my feelings completely, Tex. "Those of us with aging pets know our turn at heartbreak is coming...but they are still worth it for all the wonderful memories." And I agree with the request for a loving pat from PatC.

I too remember the Burns quote and the next line is..."It would from many a blunder free us."

"O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us."

I thought I'd never learn it and I confess, I found an "English translation" to help me understand it.

I had forgotten it was about seeing head lice on a woman's hat though.

I found the original text online, I'd never get the spelling of that right otherwise.
