Smile Keyonna Jenkins, 27 [FOUND SAFE] MSG from Tulsa, OK since 12-15-07

Wed January 9, 2008
Family's search finds few clues Related Information

TULSA — Police are looking for a 27-year-old woman who has been missing since Dec. 16. While officers say there is no reason to believe foul play is involved, the woman's family fears the worst.

Keyonna Jenkins called her father Dec. 15 and then disappeared, stepmother Paulette Richardson said Tuesday.

"At this point, we've really got nothing to account for her even being alive,” Richardson said.

When Jenkins had not checked in for a while, which family members said was out of character, the woman's father, Mason Richardson, drove to Jenkins' house to check on her.

"He found her door key outside her door,” the stepmother said. "It wasn't in the door, but it was hanging on the doorknob.”

She said because there was no sign that anything was wrong, the Richardsons just figured their daughter was busy.

However, when the father went back to the home two days later, the key was still there, and no one had been in the house since before the ice storm.

"All the lights were still on from the ice storm and that's when we realized she was missing,” Paulette Richardson said. "And we've been searching ever since.”

Information questioned
The family searched the house looking for clues, and family members found one phone number that turned up a lead.

"We found a gentleman who said he put her up in a hotel one night on the 16th of December,” she said. "He said she came to him and said she had nowhere to go, so he took her to a Super 8 on I-44 and left her there.”

Paulette Richardson said the man said he worked with Jenkins briefly several years ago and that she asked him to let her stay with him, but he couldn't because he had a wife and a child, so he bought her a hotel room, and that was the last he saw of her.

"And none of that makes any sense, because she had a house, and she had paid every bill she had on the 5th or the 6th, and she had family members everywhere,” Paulette Richardson said.

She said hotel staff said whoever was in that room checked out at 8:37 a.m. Dec. 17.

"She was in Community Care College and we know she was doing great,” Richardson said. "And the fact that she had paid all her bills shows that she meant to come back home. We're just hoping someone, somewhere has seen her.”

Tulsa police detective Bob Hickey said police don't know what happened to Jenkins, but there is no evidence to suggest criminal activity.

Jenkins is described as a 27-year-old black female with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

Police seeking woman missing nearly a month
By Staff and Wire Reports
1/9/2008

Police are searching for a woman who was last seen by her family Dec. 16. Keyonna Jenkins, 27, seemed happy before her disappearance and had no reason to run off, said Jenkins' stepmother, Paulette Richardson.

"It's as if she vanished off the face of the earth," she said.

Richardson said Jenkins, a student at Tulsa's Community Care College, has not had any contact with friends or family members. She was last seen wearing a gray pullover sweatshirt and jeans.

Jenkins is described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds.

Police ask anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to call Detective Bob Hickey at 596-1221 or the Richardson family at 425-5034 or 857-8219.

It's been a month since a Green Country woman disappeared.

Police say they are running out of leads in the search for 27-year old Keyonna Jenkins.

She disappeared in the aftermath of last month's ice storm.

Her father became worried when she stopped calling. He found her keys in the front door of her North Tulsa home.

She hasn't been home since then.

She never contacted friends, family members, and has not shown up for classes at Community Care College.

With each passing day, her family grows increasingly worried that something terrible has happened to her.

If you have any information that may help police, call them at 596-1221.

Parents Concerned About Missing Daughter
KOTV - 1/21/2008 10:05 PM - Updated 1/22/2008 5:58 AM
Two Tulsa parents are making a desperate plea for help. They haven't seen or heard from their daughter since the December ice storm. The News On 6’s Ashli Sims reports Keyonna Jenkins’ family hopes someone might know something about what happened to her.

Her parents say Keyonna Jenkins was easy with a smile and quick to extend the hand of friendship.

“She's just. Everybody is her friend. That's just her personality,” said Paulette Richardson, Keyonna’s stepmother.

Now that the 27 year old is missing, and her parents are afraid that trait might have gotten her in trouble. Mason and Paulette Richardson say the last time they heard from Keyonna was during the December ice storm. When her parents hadn't heard from her in a couple of days, they went by her house. That’s where they found her keys on the door knob.

"Every light in the house was on which tells us she had not been back in that house since power was restored. The window was still cracked two inches, and there was no sign of her,” said Paulette Richardson, Keyonna’s stepmother.

Richardson says Keyonna was attending Community Care College, but her teachers haven't seen her either.

“She was doing great. Her counselor says she was happy the last day of school before the ice storm hit. She hasn't returned there. She hasn't picked up her latest check. It's just not normal,” said Paulette Richardson.

The Richardsons say they've never gone this long without hearing from their daughter.

“I believe if Keyonna was in Alaska, she would pick up the phone and say, 'hey I'm in Alaska, ya'll.' That's just her personality. She would not just be out there and not contact someone in her family,” said Paulette Richardson, Keyonna’s stepmother.

Police in Tulsa say there are no signs of foul play, but her parents fear the worst.

“As long as there's no body, there's hope. And, when we heard there was a body found on 11th Street, it sends chills through your body. Cause you're bracing for it to be your child,” said Paulette Richardson.

The Richardsons say they can't sleep and won't stop searching until they find Keyonna.

A friend of Keyonna's told the Richardsons she stayed with him at the end of December. But, he also hasn't heard from her in more than three weeks. Keyonna also hasn't picked up her only source of income. And, she hasn't made any charges on her credit card since early December.

We see far too many sad endings to these stories. I'm always glad to see a happy one.
