Woman missing after home ransacked
Article Launched: 01/30/2008 07:51:23 AM PST

EL MONTE - Police are looking for a woman who went missing Tuesday morning under what authorities are calling "suspicious circumstances."
Joellyn Corsaro, 48 - also known as Joellyn McAtee - was home when her husband left their El Monte residence about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, El Monte police Lt. Dan Burlingham said.

When the man returned about three hours later, he found his house ransacked and his wife gone.

"The front door was open, the garage door," Burlingham said. "Different items were broken, thrown about the house and she was not there."

Among the items taken from the couple's home was a white 2008 Toyota Avalon, Burlingham said.

But the Toyota's license plates were left behind. Plates to the couple's second car - a 1999 Dodge Caravan - were taken.

Police believe the plates from the Caravan - 4EOC092 - may have been placed on the missing Toyota.

Corsaro is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 200 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

She has been listed as a "missing person with suspicious circumstances," Burlingham said.

Anyone with information can call the El Monte Police Department at (626) 580-2110.

Police search for missing El Monte woman
Wednesday, January 30, 2008

EL MONTE -- Police asked for the public's help to find a El Monte missing woman Wednesday.

Joellyn Corsaro, 48, was discovered missing Tuesday morning, according to police.

Corsaro's husband discovered she was gone when he came home to a ransacked house whose front door had been left open.

"He got home at about 9:30 to 9:45 and found his home unlocked and it seemed like it had been ransacked. Everything was kind of thrown all over the house. The wife was no where to be found," said Det. Tim Siedentopp, Senior Det., El Monte Police Dept.

Detectives say several items had been taken from the home, along with the couple's white 2008 Toyota Avalon.

The license plates of the couple's cars had been switched.

"One of the cars was missing that was in the garage. The license plates that were on that car that is missing were on another vehicle that was still parked at the house. The plates that were on that vehicle parked at the house are also gone. So we are assuming those license plates that were on the family van that is still at the house are now on the car that is outstanding," said Det. Siedentopp.

Those plates --number 4EOC092 -- may have been affixed to the missing Toyota, police said.

Corsaro was also known as Joellyn McAtee. She has been listed as a "missing person with suspicious circumstances," according to police.

If you have any information regarding this case please call the El Monte Police Department at (626) 580-2100.

I thought the same thing. Can't old plates be traced just as easily?

I'm getting cynical. I see something fishy here.

Default Missing El Monte Woman Found After Car Crash

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22922555/

Quote:
A missing woman was located Wednesday after being involved in a traffic collision, the day after her husband contacted police when he found his home ransacked and front door left open, police said.

While the woman was hospitalized for evaluation after the crash, police said no "foul play" appeared to be involved in the case. The woman's physical condition was not released by authorities, KNBC's Doug Kriegel reported.

She was found when she was involved in a traffic collision shortly after noon on the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Sunset Avenue in West Covina, said Detective Tim Siedentopp of the El Monte Police Department.

Odd. Sounds like this woman staged it to look like she was taken. Wonder what the story is here. Did she just want to leave her husband? Weird.

Glad she is safe.
