11-Month-Old Kidnapped from North Hollywood Home

An 11-month old was allegedly kidnapped from a North Hollywood home by her 28-year-old father, a fugitive recently profiled on America's Most Wanted and being sought for alleged spousal abuse, rape, kidnapping and torture, authorities said today.

Shortly after 9 last night, Raul Carillo Alderete took the child from the home of his ex-girlfriend -- the infant's mother -- near Sherman Way and Lankershim Boulevard, said Sgt. Kenneth Henkle of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.

The missing girl was identified as Deanna Alderete, said LAPD Officer Kate Lopez of the Media Relations office.

When the family saw the man in the front of the home, they ran into a back house out of fear, because he is wanted on similar kidnapping charges involving his ex-girlfriend, Henkle said.

Alderete then allegedly broke into the front of the home and took his 11- month-old daughter, Henkle said. It appears the ex-girlfriend and her parents left the baby behind when they rushed to the back of the home, he said.

Alderete fled with the child and the family immediately called police, he said.

LAPD units and deputy U.S. Marshals promptly responded, a Newsreel camera crew reported.

Alderete is Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds.

According to the America's Most Wanted Web site, he is wanted on suspicion of spousal abuse, rape, kidnapping and torture committed Feb. 12 against his ex-girlfriend. Henkle confirmed that authorities are investigating these allegations.

Anyone with information on the suspect was asked to call the LAPD's North Hollywood Station at (818) 623-4018.

Henkle said no Amber Alert has been issued because the type of vehicle Alderete may be driving was not immediately determined.

Kidnapping charges were not filed against Raul Carrillo Alderete, 28, because there was no custody agreement between Alderete and his estranged wife, the infant's mother, said Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations unit.

But the search for Alderete continues, "not because of the incident involving the child but because of the warrant," Faden said referring to a $4 million warrant issued by the Pomona Police Department.

According to the "America's Most Wanted" Web site, Alderete is wanted by on suspicion of spousal abuse, rape, kidnapping and torture committed Feb. 12 in Pomona against an ex-girlfriend.

About 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Alderete took his daughter, Deanna Alderete, from the home of his estranged wife in the 7500 block of Irvine Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

When the family saw Alderete in front of the home, they ran into a back house out of fear, apparently leaving the baby behind, said Sgt. Kenneth Henkle of the LAPD's North Hollywood Station. Alderete then broke into the home and took his daughter, Henkle said.

Alderete is Hispanic, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has a scar on his left eyebrow, a short dark goatee, and tattoos of "Desiree" and "Hecho en Pomona" -- meaning "Made in Pomona" -- on the back of his neck, and three dots next to his right eye.

Alderete was wearing a white T-shirt, a checkered flannel jacket with red lines on it, dark blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on the suspect was asked to call the Pomona Police Department at (909) 620-2151.
